i give up.....

after being “duped” by a manchester haulier last year who send in a czech tilt for a load from telford to munich, a similar thing just happened again friday :imp:

had a tilt load from yorkshire to italy to go with a heavy machine we are moving, so gave it to a local haulier for a decent rate (i.e not cheapy backload) - gets to the place friday and there was an italian artic and an intereuropa drawbar outfit loading for the firm themselves

got our bit loaded so told the 2 cranes they could derig and i’d get the jughead to move so they could get out of the tight factory - as the cranes were pulling down the street another yugo drawbar blocks the street and the driver shambles across (the bloke was about 55 and pleasant enough but could easily have qualified as one of Leeds’ most long serving and dedicated tramps) waving his mobile with our load details on it

now this firm run at least half a dozen of their own wagons which I naively thought i was getting - mind you half the reason the rate was high was that there’ll be nobody from UK there until thursday to tip it and matey was adamant he’d be there monday :open_mouth:

Keep On Subbing…!!

Why didnt you specify “must be english vehicle/driver” ?

We sometimes do a job where the customer requires that the truck be double-manned, both drivers are to hold British passports, and the trailer is to be hard-sided.

We got undercut, the customer told the new haulier of this requirement…

Yes, you’ve guessed it. Two Turks turned up with a Turkish tautliner.

We got the job back 10 minutes later!
