Due to the recent loss of my dad i’ve just had a cheque for £45,000.00 land on my door step. Now god bless my dad he was a trucker thru and thru, had his own, worked as a TM and drove lots…
So when he passed i researched heavily into traction work…
I could have Purchased a Eu5 MAN-TGA or Renault Premium/Magnum Eu5 for cash and set myself up with running money and cash in bank etc…
However you gotta look at pro’s and cons, and the job ur in… So with much soul searching i’m staying put in my tramping job, paying a stash off my Mortage and buying a new little boat!
Truth be told i’m gutted, but have spoken to loads of OD’s and taken their advice to heart!
Firstly, sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad went about five years ago, but truth to tell he had a long life and if anything it would have been a kindness for the N.H.S to have let him die when he was ready to go rather than keeping him going, without any quality of life for his final three years at enormous expense.
Secondly, you’ve probably made the right decision. I have recently put a truck on the road myself but have repeatedly said that if I could have found a decent employed job I would taken that instead. You already have one.
If things ever change then at least you still have the option of going O/D.
Would Boughey not run you as a subby? I know they only generally sub out one way work but they might round trip you if you get on with them. Double shift it and you should do alright.
If you like your job and are paid half decent then you’ve probably made the right decision though.
