I did a talky! About the importance of our industry

Thought some might like to see this, and no doubt many won’t, either way here it is. Also just to note as it was picked up on I use ‘truck drivers’ simply out of habit but include the whole transport industry in my comments

If you like it great, if you don’t I couldn’t really give a s**t. Have a great evening all

Ironically most of those who that needs to be aimed at will be thinking remove as much of the industry from the roads as possible.
Then finish the job of opening up most of what’s left of it to the cheapest possible foreign competition in the form of the removal of cabotage restrictions.

Nice one Luke :sunglasses: …, As you say we ain’t heroes, we ain’t anything special (but on the other hand neither are we all ■■■■ s) a little basic respect on the road would go a long away.
The usual suspect (s) will no doubt say ‘‘We don’t deserve it for… this that or the other’’ ) but all the same we are just out on the roads to make a living, not to spoil everybody’s day. :bulb:

(Quote; ‘‘If you don’t like it I couldn’t really give a ■■■■’’ …still liking the new edginess btw. ).

When you back working,.are things getting any better ?

Sorry Luke mate…

In under 40 seconds my eyes glazed over, my head dropped onto the desk and I dribbled a bit as I snored.

On the plus side, that shirt has lasted you well hasn’t it.

Glad to see you’re on the mend.

Nice one Luke, delivered with a good common sense approach. Are you really the Guardian reader you once claimed? A dying breed you are sir! (Haha)

I wonder who gave you two downturned thumbs and 316 upturned thumbs when I watched it, and is that a new dent in your frontal lobe or was it always there? :sunglasses:

Thank you chaps. Well, most of you  Re questions, pretty much full fitness now, only long term problem is it seems I’ve aged my body 25 years in one go! I ache and have minor mobility issues. Just need to do a medical to get licence back as it was suspended for obvious medical reasons. As for dent in head do you mean scar between eyebrows? Had that many years after a pole hit me in the face, bloody poles coming over here and taking our violence  Good lord it bled a lot! Have a good week all

I do still read it believe it not! Along with BBC News. Hence to some people I’m a brainwashed snowflake woke lefty! Thank you also, nice to hear! Had so many positive comments and messages lately it’s been wonderful. Same goes to the others too

Thank you and ha, yes quite, my Tommy Hilfiger is one of my favourites. A TK Maxx bargain, never buy clothes full price! And I have so many clothes things like this shirt last many years!

I hope that you are not offended Luke , but you mentioned a medical suspension , was it a medical incident the cause of your lorry crash in Ireland and your recent car accident ?
How is your dealings with the medical section of the DVLA ?
I can’t remember the causes of both incidents , apart from getting a lot of stick for the ditch episode , what was the cause of the car crash ?

hi luke, glad all is going well, but i have a ? , what actually happened in the accident i know you have memory loss but have the police etc told you the cause…
if you dont want to comment fair play…

regards

No offence taken. No I think it was suspended simply because I was so smashed up. They thought I may have sustained brain damage at first plus I had sustained an eye injury which had cleared up now. Otherwise never had any medical issues before and Irish crash was just a selection of events conspiring to land me in a ditch. No real idea why I crashed the car, no memory of it and police haven’t come to any conclusions. It did happen on a sharp bend though. Not dealt with medical section yet, booking medical soon, but I’ve heard they can be a bit slow!

Could it be the licence was suspended because it was suspected some sense was knocked into you, and you’d give up trucking?

Common sense (to us) in your vid, but until it’s shared on…Mum’s Net…?..it won’t reach the target audience.
But keep on trying!

MUMSNET! Of course! That’s where I’ve been falling down, not posting in right places. To the lady page I go…(not a phrase I utter too often)

I’ve updated my Memoji to visit Mumsnet. This version of me is named Anastasia Boobwank. Have a lovely day one and all

^^^^ I’ve had worse!

^^^^…

Mate of mine has paid for worse.

Interesting to know the procedure with the driving licence
Did they do it automatically themselves or did you have to declare it
You crashed in a car so how did the hgv licence come up or did they just automatically stop the lot and nothing related too truck driving

It’s a medical suspension and you can’t keep a HGV and have the car suspended (or banned) as far as I’m aware. Otherwise don’t know what procedure was as I spent 3 weeks in an induced coma
