In Case (of) Emergency
Most phones have this feature that allows someone (police/ambulance people ect)to look up your emergency contacts on your phone even if it’s locked and they don’t know the pin,it’s a good feature that is not used by too many people.

111 only puts you to a healthcare call centre , if your that bad it’s a 999 or 112 .
999 is the best option as it goes to an operator that then puts you in touch with the emergency service that’s in at least your county .
As for I C E the give away to contact a next of kin / loved one is normally …

My ICE is the traffic office. I’d hate to think that me passing away during the night would leave Tesco/Asda/Farmfoods out of stock of frozen tat. At least the planners could get a (warm) body to take over my vital role.
We have a red panic button fitted in cab, I’d push that and from what I’m told ( never pushed it myself ), it alerts company that the driver has problems , someone will explain it better , think they contact you or ring coppers etc , near Iso track box on dash

Not out of hours but having found myself in this kind of postion one morning at 5am I phoned the office. I told them I could not carry on, I needed picking up(should have been an ambulance really). They were huffing and puffing just a little.
So reluctantly they sent someone down from central Scotland too Johnstone bridge services to collect me and take me home.
Admitted too hospital from home and slipped into a diabetic Coma on arrival in hospital later that day.
How I made it from Liverpool docks too Johnstone bridge I’ll never know.
I kept stopping at services on the way up the M6, high blood sugars making me thursty more and more so the more I drank getting worse with each gulp. Totally no comprehension of what was going on.
So it really it depends how bad you are when you say unwell. In hindsight I should have called an ambulance, so I.C.E each case on its own merit so too speak. Ask your Company if they have a procedure for a driver who they cannot contact as they do have a responsibility. I know our vehicles have telematics etc.

112 is the same as 999 in the UK, there isn’t any difference to the way the calls are handled or the data that is sent to the emergency services

Since 2014, smartphones will detect that an emergency call is being placed, and use any available location services (WiFi or GPS based location) to send an emergency SMS which also contains an identifier for the call. This is intended to be received by the mobile operator whilst the call is in progress.
Reading more on this apparently it makes no difference if it’s 999 or 112 they both use smart phone inbuilt gizmos

And you don’t need to have network coverage from your own network either. As long as the phone can pick up any service from any network a 999 call will go through. Same if you’ve not even got a SIM in your phone.

Night Tramping cant be that many hundred Miles,i think
I was parked up one night and felt unwell not bad enough for the doctor but to bad to start work in the morning so stayed in bed, stayed there all day and nobody from the company noticed that I had never moved.
Showed how busy I was and that was with a tracker fitted.

Actually 112 is the better option as it pulls your location from the phones gps 999 doesn’t do this
Yes, I run long distances cross country and whenever I’ve spoken to Search and Rescue or St Johns at events they’ve always said to use 112 froma mobile, it triangulates your position in a way that 999 can’t.
