I dont know if Semtex was working for the same firm as me at the time, but this is my best one (well not exactly mine, but I was 2nd driver on the coach at the time.)
We was in Italy, to be precise, Rome. We had just dropped our passengers, apart from 3 (a dear old lady of about 80, and a retired husband and wife,) at the colluseum. I dived out and over to the opposite side of the road to save a parking space, well I waited for a good 15 minutes, had a ■■■, and there was still no sign of my coach. I had just put my ■■■ out when an italian coach pulled up asking if “I was the mate of the orange coach?” I replied yes, only for the driver to tell me that it had been involved in an accident 500yds up the road. So off I run, as fast as my long legs would carry me, to find our coach straddling a set of tram lines… with the tram planted squarely in the centre of it.
I ran up, got stopped by one of the italian police officers to which I told him in no uncertain terms that he would have to shoot me to stop me getting onboard… . The old dear was sitting on the floor between two rows of seats, the retired couple were up the back end of the coach. My mate was in the stairwell, and he wasn’t a small bloke (was he semtex?) having bent the gear stick on the way past. The driver of the tram was being questioned by the police, apparently he had run a red light off the hill, seen our coach crossing the tramlines and had dived towards the back of his tram.
We drove our coach back to the hotel, about 2 hours south of rome, in the mountains shedding glass on the motorway, while our bosses left Bedford to head down to do a coach swap with us in Modena 24hrs later.
Yep I remember that one…the boomerang Bova (well it was that shape after)
Wasn’t that the companys self proclaimed “No 1 tour driver”
Nothing significant in a truck up to press ( a few inevitable minor bumps and scrapes)…but this is what happens to a Ford Focus when you’re on a blue light and sirens run and a Hummer pulls out from the left and T-bones you!
I walked away from that one with only my pride injured (after I’d taken off my body armour and shaken out all the glass fragments). I was alone in the car (thankfully) and the nearside wing mirror finished up under my seat! All the glass from the nearside came in, the car was lifted completely off the road and did a mid-air 180, landing on the wrong side of the road and being hit by a Ford Galaxy. I learned from it and moved on (slowly!).
What is it with DAFs and offside damage, this is my previous truck.

My truck was reversed into whilst parked at my op centre!!!
recovery wagon came out and tidied it up a bit tied down the curtains and made sure nothing flaping about
and followed me to the delivery just along the road and then back to the yard
i had some photies of it back at the yard but seem to have lost them
ill show you what happens when you hit a low bridge lol… wasnt driving but was been recovered from when i shunted a tractor… the recovery man did a proper job on killin my Noddy van
