i remember when dfds first did this to HTL (harwich transport ltd) when i was a child they completely wiped everything out its sad to se your past going.
Dfds are a good company though shame they changed to DSV which in my opinion is a complete disaster

Hello Keith,
Indeed thats my opinion also. When we startet for DSV not as worker by DSV Road Cargo but as sub-contractor Steenbergen so one to the other day we must do what thy want from us. Driving in the weekend en in the week in Sweden, France of Spain standing stil for 1, 2 of 3 days. No work thy tell us. By Frans Maas it was usually the weekends at home and soms 1 of 2 nights in the week. At Groningen we chance trailers and get at rest. The trailers go’s on by an other driver to get onload the next morning of day. By DSV it is alway what you load you onload also. You never chance trailers only in the ferry ports sometimes. That was one of the reasons i left Steenbergen.
This is history: Steenbergen tractor with an DFDS trailer at the homeyard of Frans Maas at Groningen. Okt. 2007, one of the last trips from me for Steenbergen Transport.
Regards, Bert Wolters
For the inland work in the Netherlands and Belgium we had by Steenbergen Transport also DAF 85 CF tractors.
And Mercedes Axor tractors.
Regards, Bert Wolters
Just so you know I haven’t forgotten about putting more pictures on here, here are a couple of a trailer we came across last year, as we approached Maastricht from Koln direction.
Because of it’s fleet number, I wonder if it is from the Eupen depot?

Hi Dieselcowboy,
Indeed it’s an trailer from Frans Maas Eupen. Stil you see them on the road only it is now an collector’s item to se them in West-Europe. The most trailers has been sold to East-Europe, West-Indies of Africa. The last new ones have an new side curtain with DSV on the curtains. Also the old DFDS trailers ar sold and replaced for new sidecurtains trailers. The old new Frans Maas trailers with side flaps and curtains ar nou used in Germany for ADR goods.
One of the new GE TIP Rental trailers, me on the way from Paris to Norkoping in Sweden, somer 2007.
Night rest near Caen in France, July 2007.
Weekend rest at Groningen, september 2007.

Bert, thought you may like this. I asked a friend of mine who worked in the first FM office in UK where he thought this was, and he thinks it may be FM Manchester, back in the late 1970’s.

I wil look in my collection if i have more pictures of big old Dutch companys who also workt in the U.K. and start a new thread. An other proplem is you must have the time. I stil work as truck driver for TNT Post in the Netherlands. If you work it takes so much free time. But i wil try to do it.

Bert,
Any photos you have of Dutch trucks from 80’s - 90,s or before would be great. I have been looking for photos of DAF trucks from a Belgium company called SPD I think they were based in Gent or Brugge, they were linked to my Dads old company through the parent company Unilever. I think from memory that they were Blue and white.
Look forward to any photos you have
Regards
Ant
Hello bert you speak better english than me dutch, all the dutchmen I met on the road spoke good english. TNT my daughter worked for them in Northampton England, also in Austrailia, German I picked up while in the army, I used to listen to the Dutch or hollander and could pick up certain words:- guten darg= guten tag= good day, when I used to try to impress the frauleins, I would write or say, Du bist mein gluck, Du bist mein stern, Auch wenn du brummst, Ich habedir gern.
Bert,
can’t have this thread slipping any further down the list! I’ve done some searching and found these. Taken in Great Yarmouth, early 90’s, can’t remember exact year but could find out if pushed. First is owner driver Hutch’s truck, he later became an employed driver on Yare Haulage. Sadly he died a few years ago, a really nice guy.
Second is one of Yare Haulage’s Volvo’s.
Hi Dieselcowboy,
Ferry nice old pictures from those old Volvo tractors by Yare Haulage from Great Yarmouth. Love them to see. Let them comming, you pleased me. I have some from 1983 when we get the fist new DAF 2800 tractors in the new colours for Frans Maas Groningen.
New by the DAF dealer at Groningen, 1983.
The director of Frans Maas Groningen get the keys for the fist DAF 2800 tractor in the new colours.
