Enjoy the trip Orys and don’t forget to take a camera. You can post some piccies on here when you get back.
Agreed mate, cos this is an ideal opportunity for orys to do a nice photo-diary. (Please.)
I’ve been to Croatia (Zagreb,) but it was in 1982 when the whole country was called Jugoslavia and I went by a fairly direct route through Belgium, Germany and Austria.
Over to you orys, cos I’d like to see what the place looks like in more modern times. (Please.)

I am the same as you, Dave. I was going to Greece and it was a beautiful drive along their one and only motorway, the M1 as I recall. Past Zagreb, Belgrade and Nis down thro Macedonia. I can still see the border guard and the way he was dressed in his much bigger brothers overcoat lol

Hi Bear,
Yes mate, the Jugoslavian M1… ee, by gum… I remember when some sections of it were cobbled- and I’m not kidding
I can also remember when they were tarmacing it and the contraflows, what a mess it was!!
I never got as far as Greece, having only ever been sent as far as Belgrade.
I wonder whether “the stumps” (IIRC, near Slavonski Brod) is still as busy now that the motorway is all finished?

This was the Zagreb - Belgrade motorway in early 1994.
What is now the A2 and A1 between Villach,Ljubljana and Koper was also there in the 1980’s and some sections of that and what is now the A1 and A6 between Zagreb and Rijeka were finished as early as 1980 long before most of what is now the the A3 between Zagreb and Belgrade was built.
