Hypothetical speeding question

Supposing a police car was following you, let’s say, in a 30 zone, and you were doing 38 mph (enough to get a ticket) and just as the copper was going to pull you, you set off a speed camera, could you get done twice? I wouldn’t have thought so, but what would you do with the ticket that came through the post, tell them you’ve already had a ticket for that offence?

The cop would see the camera go off and not bother with the speeding offence but might still pull you for a word

I would have thought that technically it would be 2 offences,as the Police would have a different clocking time on his camera, as to the time of the speed camera clocking you.
Pray for a lenient copper

Isn’t it just one “continuous offence”? Surely if two different CCTV cameras observe somebody stealing or carrying away stolen goods, but minutes apart, its not two offences and convictions, but one.

As above… only one offence.

I think that this comes under the heading of Double Jeapourdy ,you cant be tried twice for one offence.

I agree it’s just one offence.

I think the double jeopardy law was scrapped recently.

If the camera is on road A and the police witness gives you a ticket for road B then it could be construed as different offences or if you were speeding in a 30 and it then changed to a higher limit and you were still speeding it could be 2 offences.

dont speed.

or activate your cloaking device first.
