Due to the cost of cleaning up human faeces and litter, the council will now ban lorries from parking in laybys and side roads.
Once again a few bad apples have spoilt it for the rest of us who do not do their number two’ s in the bushes of Cambridgeshire toff country.
Full report in one of the truck magazines.

that’s gonna be a hard one to do if your outta hours.
anyone ticketed will be going to court and having any fine overturned at which point the council will be receiving claims for loss of pay etc for the driver attending court.
Simples. No deliveries of their Xmas parcels.
Let the Nimbies collect it themselves.
Any link to the article,
Depending how they do it? It will be difficult to ‘police’,
Even more so if they make it a 2hr max etc to stop the overnighters.
I guess the council didn’t bother to ask the question why truckers are having to resort to ■■■■■■■■ in a bush in a lay-by.
Far easier to ban people than give planning permission to build facilities to cater for them on one of the busiest trunk routes in the country.

I agree about facilities but if a driver is desperate he can have a crap and wrap or bag it up put it on the top step and dispose of it later.same with bottles of ■■■■ empty them down a drain not chuck them out of the window

Agreed! drivers have always been their own worst enemy, the majority of drivers will do just as you say but the socially challenged members of the ‘Underclass’ among us spoil things for the rest of us that are civilized, so consequently in the eyes of the public we are ALL tarred with the same brush because of the actions of these ■■■■ s. And before the foreign driver haters jump it’s a lot of Brit drivers that are to blame for this.
As for banning lay by parking… bring it on. At least then the lack of proper parking facilities will be highlighted more, and become more obvious to those in power that choose to ignore it. Maybe even to the point that somebody will finally address the fact that drivers should have basic human facilities provided in order to do their job safely and legally and not just settle for any old ■■■■ as a matter of course …as we do
Why don’t drivers stop at service areas and have a dump, then move on and park up? I’ve no problem with peeing in bushes or into storm drains etc but do think that if drivers can’t control themselves to “take the Brown children swimming” when at a customers’ premises, then perhaps they shouldn’t be in charge of a lorry?
If the council ban lorry drivers from parking up because they dump in bushes, then they should also show no tolerance to another group of people who park up anywhere and dump in the bushes…
John Bridge, chief executive of Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce, said a parking ban would simply move the problem elsewhere and that a small minority of drivers was causing a problem through bad discipline.
Well at least one person is talking sense.
Is it just me but after reading that article
I can’t see anywhere where it states Toby’s quote unless he added 2+2 and got 15

^This.
I can see other councils following suit in due course… Kent councillors will be rubbing their hands at the prospect of finally closing the bombsights alongside the A2 & A20.
It’s not like there’s always the option to have the luxury of a toilet. Maybe should ban workers from using office toilets and see how long it is before they are jumping in a bush on way home (which is every night) they forget some drivers live in there trucks for weeks on end.

Kent County council are actively looking to open 3 truckstops using taxpayers money in direct competition with private sector truckstops.
It would be interesting to see the reaction if they started Kent council haulage and subsidised it with taxpayers funds in direct competition with local hauliers ?

Absolute rubbish plan ahead and work around it, Are you telling me truck drivers don’t eat for weeks at a time or do they make suitable arrangements ?
If taken short when on a night out (can happen) a bush is the best option it’s when it’s on the pavement or side of a layby so its visible or even trodden in

In 20 years I’ve never peed in a bottle, ■■■■ in a bag or ■■■■ in a bush. Probably because I refuse to work for someone who runs the job so tightly that I feel so much pressure I can’t stop for the loo and that I refuse to park in lay-bys.

I have known a hell of a lot of drivers over the years and you are the only one I have heard say that.
So if you are overnight parked on a MSA for eg., you willingly walk the obligatory 100yds from the truck park to the toilets, even maybe in the ■■■■■■■ rain, rather than resort to a bottle and for however how many times through the night depending on how much you have drank right?

So, lets say you arrive at the services late on because of a delay and end up having to park a fair distance from the building. Think, say, the far corner of the lorry park at Lymm. You wake up at 2am busting for a ■■■■, it’s freezing outside and you can hear the rain pelting down on the cab roof and wind swirling outside. Do you ■■■■ in a bottle or starting donning the waterproofs to make the 10 minute round trip to the loo?
I know which i’d do. Been there, done it and dealt with the shame. Part of the reason why I would never tramp again.
