Retired coffin dodgers with nothing to do are happy to nick drivers.

Well I suppose the other side of the story is that if HGV drivers didn’t deliberately use roads that they are not allowed to use there would not be a problem for the coffin dodgers to get involved in :light_bulb:

Totally agree if trucks didn’t use it thed not be there.

But half the time these weight limits restrictions etc are meaningless less. More a case of we don’t want hgvs passing our mansions spoiling the view. Send them through city centres council estates etc instead.

Adding miles onto your route and causing congestion on

The councillor is not correct, to access Sainsbury’s in Bradford on Avon, they don’t use a narrow lane or a road without a pavement, he’s made that up for political gesturing and optics to make him look useful.

If the company is breaking the law, they would be using the 18 ton weight limit bridge to transit BOA to the store in the south of the town.

That’s a main road and not a lane.

Read down article it says there looking at maybe putting cameras one at each end

. As the article says you can legally drop off deliver down there so we’re getting timed cameras if it times you driving straight through non stop your get a ticket. So if you can legally drive there what’s the issue?

Or just head that way then pull up have 15 mins break n confuse the camera timings

BOA council have been harping on about ANPR cameras for years but keep saying they can’t afford them,I regularly see 44 ton lorries crossing the 18 ton limit.

The same for the 18 ton limit on Cleveland Bridge in Bath, they use that bridge a lot, there’s a camera of some sort but I don’t know if it’s a traffic monitoring survey camera or one for the lorries or not.

The article says it’s a 7.5 ton weight in BOA, that’s wrong, it’s a 18 ton limit, the volunteer spotters count how many axles.

There’s one thing coming to a wt limit or a weak bridge inadvertently, even missing the signs, we’ve all done it…..me especially, but if drivers are doing it deliberately,.especially as the article says to save all of 4 minutes in their self inflicted stress laden day,.who tf cares if they get nicked.

It’s generally Trading Standards that send the case to the CPS to be assessed if they can win it or not, as they say beyond reasonable doubt.
The police pass the file to CPS from the evidence gathered from Lorry Watch volunteers, for the 18 T BOA bridge the driver and haulier get three warning letters and get prosecuted on the fourth crossing.

As Rob said, most drivers have got to the point of no return where you can’t spin the trailer around, and just have to go for it and hope the spotters aren’t out and about.
