Hoyer vacancy

Each to there own I suppose.

Looks a brutal shift pattern.

Do know how you can plan anything around crazy shifts like that

Probably awesome if you have no life no wife or kids

Sorry just to check because I’m thinking it’s the sort of shift pattern that suits a man with a wife and kids are you proposing 70 hours and 4 nights out, maybe a Saturday run in or Sunday run out would be better?

Just to add I did a brief stint for Hoyer albeit not on fuel and not only was the Monday to Friday 60-65 hour weeks not very family friendly it was also possibly the worst I’ve ever earned in transport, very close to Turners of Soham wages.

Stuck in the dark ages at Hoyer unfortunately as far as treating drivers go, which is a shame.

I get the 39k on supermarket work without having to worry about dangerous chemicals or a flammable bomb behind my back, it’s as boring as [zb] but I’m not doing much more than the 32 hour weeks they quote and I don’t have to switch between days and nights just shows how far companies like Hoyer are the problem when it comes to getting people into and sticking to the industry.

You would probably see your kids more doing 60hours a week mon to Friday than ■■■■■■■ around doing all those crazy shifts.
All can you plan anything round those ■■■■ shifts.
I can see the point of 4 on 4 off 12 hour day men And 12 hour night men

Including the 4 nights out?

Ones a 32 hours a week shift, the others spending a couple of hours with the kids on Sunday.

Even if its a 60 hour week on days or nights. Ones a 32 hour week the others a 60 hour week.

Am I missing something?

As I said I’m not a fan of (can I get a) Hoyer but if it means having my days off during the week rather than half a Saturday and a Sunday off so I can work 28 hours less a week, sounds alright to me.

Most of us who had young kids more than 20 years ago could only dream of 32 hour weeks, we’d have given our eye teeth for those hours, reality then was 60 or more hours for a very average wage unless you specialised or managed to land on a dead mans shoes job.

No it isn’t perfect, but not many driving jobs about offering a guaranteed £39k for a 32 hour average week (to be fair the devil may be in the detail ie annualised hours but i have no knowledge if thats the case), those prepared to put an extra shift in every fortnight could will be on the cusp of £50k for a 44 hour week without having to sleep in a cab nor ■■■■■■■ parcels on a loading bank as one here thinks we do these days, not as you can sleep very well in a day cab MAN anyway :smiling_imp:

Do the Fire & Rescue Service not do 4x12hr shifts two dayshifts 0700/1900 then two nightshifts 1900/0700 or at least they did do!!!
They are Police forces across UK do the same near sure.

Nightshift on a crewed firestation involves sleeping unless on a shout.

Kev who’s a fireman at local fire station also works as a Porter at the hospital , does 2 jobs , if you put the suggestion to most lorry drivers to do 2 jobs you can just imagine the answer

Most FT Firemen about NI are Chimney Sweeps on their 4off lol!!!

I was interested at the time so analysed it and still have my analysis. 7 week rota, in those 49 days you work 14 days, 14 nights and 21 off. Of which weekend days are 4 worked, 4 nights and 6 off.
