Hoyer etc - Will they be "charged" for using Army?

confused as to why you must live within an hours commute of your job . Surely thats not their decision but yours in how far you are willing to travel . Or is is it that they want you available at the drop of a hat if others don’t turn up for their shifts ?

It’s because of fatigue. We routinely work 12 hour shifts so that could mean up to a 14 hr day with the commute. Some of the lads on other contracts max out on hours so it could be even less time for R&R. It was brought in a good few years ago when there was a serious accident and they thought fatigue may have been a factor. I wouldn’t want to spend an hour driving home after a night shift, and I especially wouldn’t want to be getting up any earlier than I already do for a 5am start….but that’s just me I suppose
