Very sad, My sympathies go to His family and friends.
Conor:
Crying shame, he was a fantastic bloke. RIP mate.
Not wishing to add fuel to any fire, but I think those most deeply effected by Richard Browns death would’ve been better served, if you had made more off the character off the Man, whom I assume that you knew. rather than post whatever it was that the moderators saw fit to remove.
I’ve got to stick up for Conor. Most of you didn’t read what was originally posted and are now basing your repies on a bit of text that says
It’s a bit like thise people who complain to TV watchdogs about a programme that was offensive but they’ve never seen, just wanting to jump on the bandwagon.
His post was more about the procesures in place to stop accidents like this happening (and it sounds like he knows them from 1st hand experience) and was informative in understanding what ‘may’ have happened. Because this was speculation, it was removed.

I do think the poor guy’s memory is probably actually better served by a full and frank adult discussion as to what may have occurred, and how it could be prevented in future, than a couple of pages of identical RIPs from randoms that don’t know the bloke, I’m not saying there is anything wrong in expressing condolences whatsoever but if someone reads something that stops and makes them think about their own day to day actions that might be putting themselves, or others, at risk at least something worthwhile can possibly come of it.
Obviously posts from idiots that think they’re too clever for it to ever happen to and think that this is something worth sharing with the world are probably slightly inevitable but to be honest, if they’re not here, they’ll be out in force in the various newspaper online comments section, I suspect.
First, much as we love to moan about H&S, this is why it exists; hi-vis, safety boots, hard-hats and all.
Second, it is easy to become blase about everyday procedures like loading and unloading (I know I have) - this is a reminder to take care at all times, not just when driving. At the very least, stand well clear and let them get on with it.

.
True, a full and frank “adult” discussion as to what may have occurred, and how it could be prevented in future will be worth while. But until the enquiry has established exactly those circumstances, then how the hell are we meant to discuss them, in anyway shape or form, without it being pure speculation, and that wont serve to prevent any kind off accident in the future.
Until then, I hope that no poster feels inhibited about expressing their condolences towards someone whom they didn’t know, but who as a fellow driver they feel a kinship for, and regret His loss on a human level.

I did deliberately try to phrase my post to avoid criticism of those wishing to express condolences and not to deter anyone that wishes to.
I don’t put the great store in ‘official’ enquiries and verdicts generally in these sorts of things. By the time it reports sadly interest in the accident will have waned.
The other thing is that I don’t think the official HSE prosecutions do much to promote worker safety and generally tend to be some book throwing affair at the employer over risk assessments.

Conor did indeed work for Howdens. It was a few years ago. He has no first hand knowledge of the incident. His content was removed end of story . His response is something you’d expect from a guest on the Jeremy Kyle show and not the educated individual he puts himself across as. Irony at its best, made me grin no end Don’t worry about him though, can’t see him contacting the Samaritans after his outburst !!

I disagree. Having been to companies after they have been prosecuted i find the HSE procedures, well, lets say maybe over the top but you’re definatley safe. The way i see it is that HSE and its laws are toothless UNTIL an accident happens.

Fair dues, I don’t disagree with what you’ve said here. Maybe I just like the dust to lay a bit 1st.

We seem to read off these tragedies all to frequently, But Conors post made it look like He knew this Guy, however loosely, and in those circumstances it might be fitting to pay tribute to him. Maybe it came across differently
