Howard Tenens starts Coca-Cola operations for Olympic Games
05 January 2012
Howard Tenens has commenced operations at a 233,000 ft² sustainable warehouse for Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE), which will be used to service the Olympic Park during the 2012 Games.
News report doesn’t state which companies were in the race (pun) for this contract but did the green machine not turn out green enough for the Olympic Park contract? Don’t know how much HT does for CCE but thought ESL was the main man for CCE? Seen a lot of Downton pulling HT trailers before xmas.
Officially opened by transport minister Mike Penning, the warehouse will include a number of sustainable features, such as a ground force pump to provide heating and cooling systems, solar photovoltaic cells to generate electricity, and rain harvesting.
Wendy Manning, customer logistics director at Coca-Cola Enterprises, with which the logistics company has been working with since 2008, says: “Howard Tenens is at the forefront of low-carbon transport and they have trialled dual-fuel (gas/diesel) vehicles for us as well as sourcing and managing the Voltaic warehouse.”
Catherine Crouch, group environment director at Howard Tenens, adds: “As a supply chain partner we are working closely with CCE to assist them to reduce the environmental impact of their supply chain.”
