How to tell if tacho is 1.3 or 1.4?

I might well be missing something obvious here but how do you tell if a tacho is the old or new type?

Biggest difference to spot is when doing a manual entry.
Is it not also on the top of any printout you do.

Yeah I understand how to do manual entries but am I correct in thinking that with the old ones you don’t have to do them as long as you insert your card as soon as you start work because they automatically record rest. Where as with the new ones you always have to do a manual entry to record daily/weekly rest. But if you select no for a manual entry and it’s a new type you’re stuffed?? There doesn’t seem to be any visual difference between the units. Starting agency work so will be dealing with various vehicles/tachos

On agency how often do you jump in a vehicle and insert your driver card as soon as you arrive at work, in my experience most agency jobs don’t work like that.

So the likelihood is that you will want to do a manual entry to cover the end of the previous shift and the start of the current shift, so you’ll soon find out what type of tachograph it is.

Thanks

Thanks

I can’t remember off the top of my head but I don’t think there is a visual difference between the two which is what I think you were getting at.

there should be a sticker inside the paper roll tray that will tell you, and its at the top of a print out, also make sure the paper rolls you use mention the correct codes on the back that relate to paper type required by what the sticker says inside the paper tray, using old stock is technically an infringement.
