Just pondering the implications of creating a new union to compete with the chocolate fireguard outfits we are currently saddled with.
Since joining this forum it’s not too difficult to detect the mood music of complete revulsion towards the likes of Unite and URTU,therefore how difficult would it be to start the ball rolling? Does anyone out there agree that we need radical action on parking, long hours etc?
Not trying to be some kind of foam flecked agitator here, just think a different approach may be needed to address the current awful situation. There seems to be a good intellectual infrastructure at large on this forum (take a bow,Coffeeholic,Lucy)surely we can get something started?..Lets have some ideas.
Since when was foam-FLECKED,considered a profanity dear legislators?
flecked,flecked ■■■■■■■ hell
it wouldn’t be easy, as we have had unions for years now without any backbone, because maggy thatcher got rid of the powerful ones.
people have lost faith in the unions, they are like polititions. all mouth and no action.
…it’s not too difficult to detect the mood music of complete revulsion towards the likes of Unite and URTU,
So which music do you listen to, or are you tone deaf?
For me, unite can go hang, URTU have looked after me for 20 yrs and will continue to do so.
There’s no need to start another union, just support the one, URTU, we already have.
Now to find a brick wall, 'cos let’s all chant the TM mantra…
“DRIVERS ARE THEIR OWN WORST ENEMY”
Another union to divide the effectiveness of the workers? That would be right up the crap employers street I think! The unions are only as good as the people in the union. That’s as true today as it ever was.
Fuel prices are the biggest one thet op’s use for low pay, but truck drivers have the power to bring the country to it’s knees without us there is nothing to buy or live in, fuel companies rake in billions in profit and so doe’s the government, unions don’t have the power they once had nor the backbone, and they can be bought, and all political parties tend to be the same, whatever happened to Labour being for the blue collar workers tories being for the rich white collar workers, everyone seems to be out for themselve and don’t give a toss about anybody else, it’s hard to say if it’s a new union or new government needed

Nothing to do with me, you have the wrong person.
The unions are only as good as the people in the union. That’s as true today as it ever was.
100% correct,
We don’t need more unions we need people to be invoolved and active in the ones that exist.
The leadership of large unions is largely unanswerable to its members and as such does what it wants.
But the way to alter this is to engage with the elected executive members, who by and large are just the same as you and me.
Any union can be controlled by its memebrs IF they are prepared to put the effort in and not just simply pay the dues every week and sit back.
Go to meetings and get your voice heard, its amazing how few votes it takes to get a motion approved in some Branches.
(gets off the soap box now)
It’s about time we got the Teamsters in

i’ve had that same thought. if they set up here, then i think people would see them as a union that means business.
