How to recharge a maglite?!

I’ve got a 6 cell halogen maglite. How the ■■■■ do I recharge it!?

The battery is the length of the tube and I don’t have a special fancy charger for it…

You don’t, you put new batteries in it.

Should have said - It’s the rechargable one with the big long sealed battery.

If I put normal ones in is it just ‘fat batteries’ that kids toys use?

Ah, ok. I’m not 100% sure but I imagine it would take 6 D cell batteries, the fat ones. Alternatively you could just use an old 9v charger, cut the plug off and gaffer tape the wires to each end of the rechargeable battery I suppose.

does it have 2 metal contacts on the tube just underneath the bulb of the light?? if yes then its a special charger that you will need! putting normal batteries in should,nt work as the bulb ect should be different, you will prob be able to charge the batt unit if you can get it out, like Harry says, but either try and make sure batt pack is dead before charging or try and get/ make a discharger, charging these type of batteries, if they are not dead creates a memory in the battery, do it often enough and the battery will only charge from a certain point so you end up with a battery pack that will show fully charged but is really only 5% charged and wonmt last 2 minutes…

It looks like a charger is between 100 and 125 brick

Are you sure it is not a 5 cell torch as the only rechargeable maglite i can find in their catalogue is a 5 cell version. If so all you will need is a 6v DC adaptor of some sort.

Maglites are useless anyway, the only thing they are any good for is hitting people with.

You will also need the charger adaptor cradle from what i can see there must be a connection of some sort on the torch directly underneath the on off button.

I think that’s why coppers carry 'em!

Judge - Did you hit this man with your baton officer"?

Plod - “No your honour in all truthfulness I did not”!

tbh agree that maglites are pretty much useless!! there are some better touches on the market now, we used to have some that clipped either on your belt or a loop on your coat probably about the size of 2 packs of cards, stronger illumination, batteries lasted longer/charge lasted longer, had a similar lens as a maglite as you could zoom or flood the beam…

Yeah, but I bet your 2 packs of cards with stronger illumination doesn’t hurt the toerags quite as much when you find the need to whack them about their body with a non offensive weapon ?

You don’t buy a 5 cell Maglite to see what you’re doing after being woken in the middle of the night, you buy a 5 cell Maglite if you need to see who you’re hitting with it. :sunglasses:

tbh if i was gonna whack some one i would go for a cheaper torch and a basic baseball bat! £10 all in!!

maglite ££££££££

when in security we used to do new cross hosp in wolves, had an incident one night when some one was threatened with a machete, one of our guys came across someone near to a redundant ambulance station and did whack him with the mag=1 unconcious druggie and a maglite with a slight bend in the tube…

Them 6 cellers are ■■■■■■ too big to swing in an enclosed space, alreet for rucking in a car park but no good in the house or wagon, 3 celler for indoors
