Watch the film that is on tv called Red Dog , about a pilgrim wandering dog in the mines of Australia, the ending is very sad, Red Dog come home, it is a true story and there is a statue of Red in Daimpers town.

Im exactly the same. Doesnt bother me what happens to the people but if theres an animal getting hurt ill fast forward past it!
The horse whisperer is another good film with Robert Redford and Kristin Scott Thomas and a very young Scarlet Johannson, her horse is run over by a truck in an icy road in the forest, the scenery in that film is amazing, similar to Broke back mountain with Jake Gylenhall .
