How to have a go

I would love to have a go at truck racing, but don’t know if I have what it takes. Maybe a good way to get people involved would to run a Red letter day type events. Like you can do for racing cars etc.

  Yeah, count me in, love a go at that.

This may be something we could look at for Trucknet members.

If anyone else is interested and I have enough interest then maybe I could have a word with the circuits.

Let me know your comments and who’s interested.

 I’d be up for that.Do the race teams have closed testing days at circuits like the F1 boys do? Maybe you could put a couple of hours aside for a few laps for ‘New Driver’ assessement?

And would anyone having a go need an special insurance or racing licence to take part?

Thats how I would have to approach the idea to the circuits, I think. I get on well with the BARC and think they would go along with this.

Unfortunatly, there would have to be a fee involved, as Redline will not be able to stand the total hire of the track for tha 1/2 or a full day.

I know Pembrey track is 4.5K to hire for the day. So if we could get 20 people intersted that would be only £200 each for the once in a lifetime thing

I hope that does not put many off and I know it is TN policy not to accept donations, but this would purely be on a cost basis and no profit made.

Keep your names coming in and I will see what I can arrange for early next year

only £200 each

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: Blimey.

id be up for that ive always wanted to av go at that

It sounds like fun to me but i hope for £200 you are not going to get 10 minutes on the track, if its a good deal i would be up for it.

Is this the sort of day that you’d be thinking of putting on if enough people were interested?

I’d be interested if it is.

If I can get enough people interested , I can approach the Circuits and see if they can help. Everyone will have to understand that we will be very much in the hands of the circuit owners, as to time and costs. If I can get a proposal put together to approach them with as well as interested parties. Then this will certainly help start the ball rolling.

I’d look at it like this, Alex…the more people that chip in, the smaller each person’s share of the cost would be, but the greater the number of drives to fit in to the same time - therefore shorter drives…or vice versa (less people, more cost, but more time per person). Sounds like “you get what you pay for” to me, and you can’t say fairer than that. :sunglasses:

Did the above attempt at an explanation actually make sense to anyone other than me, btw…? :open_mouth:  :grimacing: :grimacing:

-ish :open_mouth:

Depends how many the £200 is gonna cover really ■■

 Clear as mud Lucy but we know what you mean

£200 yep that would be fine count me in.

Yeh i got the idea Lucy but is it going to be 10 am til 2 pm or all day or■■?..

BTW can i go last?..

Best thing to do is get a general idea of how many are interested (with no obligation) and then prices and times can be worked out. This is still in the planing stage.

Basically the more enter the cheaper it will be. The more enter the less time you will get and visa versa. I hope you can understand this.

Most redletter days do not have you driving the vehicle fo 4 hours anyway. You have the experiance of racing / driving the vehicle after being tought and shown the ropes. Which can take some time.

TBH £200 for any sort of motorsport sounds very reasonable to me compared to some of the car track days I’ve done.

£200 is quite good really I recently paid £180 for a rally day all in all we had a go at driving for about an hour each. Anyway in that short time you may find new talent!!!

I mentioned this to a few guys at work who might want to come as well, is it only for tnet members or can i invite them to join us?.

Just get them to register on here Jammy, then there’s no probs with them not being members.
(but don’t tell everyone OK  )
