A good friend of mine came through Dover this morning, well he got as far as dockside Calais when a Dog took an added interest in his trl…
His doors were sealed as was his curtainsider and nobody was hanging off his axles when he set off that morning. The Customs opened his trl and out popped 6 immigrants!!!
They had cut a hole in the roof and stitched it back up so it wouldn’t flap about in the wind.
He’s not happy his boss anint too chuffed and he has to go to court for bringing immigrants into the country…Customs just said oh well you can always appeal…
In theroy he has not brought any illegals into the UK as Calais is in France, well it was when I did Europe. If the Poulet eating surrender monkeys found out we had taken Calais from right under their noses I’m sure they would be chocking on their Cheap cut Jambon Baguettes and syrupy black poor excuse for coffee…So who wants to let them know■■?
Unfortunately we have swapped a small piece of England for a smaller piece of Calais, that is the reason that you often see French Customs officers in the English end of the Channel Tunnel. Once you go through the check in booths you are in another country.
If your mate can prove that he did his security checks with a proven paper trail and a workable plan then he should not need to worry too much, the advantage he has is that he will face an English court and not the French judiciary.

Calais has changed hands a few times in history, it was part of England during the time of Henry V as he was on his way there when the french stopped him at Agincourt. Completly irrelevent comment, but I’ve been listening to an audio book about the lead upto the the battle and thought I’d try and impress you all with my knowledge of English history.
if not spelling had a couple of bevvies and trying to use a turkish keyboard/
Had a simalar problem last year… (also in Calais)
My driver had a dozen (dirty smelly [ZB]s) in the back of his fridge, they got in as he filled up with diesel, they were found and even though they didn’t even leave France, my driver & me was fined £4500 each, After an appeal it was dropped.
The load of chilled cheese was classed as contaminated, and was destroyed at a cost of £50,000 for my GIT.
I have since had special locks put on the trailers door, that cannot be forced, £3,000 spent, but at least I have peace of mind !!
My drivers fill out immagration forms on inbound loads, this may help you if you get stopped, it shows that you are making an effort to check the load, locks, axles etc etc everytime you stop…
