We’re told the average age of an HGV/LGV driver is early fifties, so I was interested in seeing whether the demographic is the same on TruckNet or whether the technology factor makes the average age younger. When there have been a few votes I’ll do a calculation of average age.For the record, I’m 53.
Harry Monk…if they tell you their mental age I think you would get a shock …then again maybe not…
Hi all At 64 i was looking toward not seeing a truck again soon,and only work ‘‘part time’’ now.But seeing what i shall be getting for different pensions [from Holland,UK and Sweden],partly my own fault for working for a diversity of ‘‘micky mouse’’ firms over the years it looks like i will be doing a bit of ‘‘summer work’’ after 65.I am fortunate that,due to being offered a lot of ‘‘summer work’’ later,and my ex boss fixing the dcpc gratis for me.It saddens me that throughout the years we all hoped that ‘‘certain institutions’’ were going to ‘‘look after us’’ in our dotage after all we contributed to various systems and find out ‘‘it ain’t happening’’.
I’m in the 1% of the sumary, I have been wondering how many are still driving, as from my own experience unless you have a good agency or employer it’s do the job or walk, I happened to tell my agency I only wanted short shifts ie 8hrs and they came back with the start time and hours I wanted.
I’m on a DHL contract using DDs at 44Gvw and I’m 74
