About the American/European driver thing. Well there are drivers on here that just posted they make $31,000 dollars a year. And some that say they make $55,000 a year. Now im not trying to make anyone mad but truck driving aint no dream job. None of it pays gold. Its the same here. Some make $30,000 a year some make 55,000 dollars a year. And so on. I know my good friend Dave makes right at $40,000 dollars a year. And he drives for the largest trucking company in the United States. So its how much you drive and who you drive for. Cost of livivng is diffrent. I feel sorry for you guys across the pond.
I just want to thank all for sharing their income. Its all very interesting.
Owner Operators here are like those with their own authority there, “leasing on” is illegal. So these guys have to pay for and source their own road tax, operators licence, insurance, the lot. Plus the truck itself, obviously.
The lower pay figures here are for drivers who are home every night. Very few of even the higher paid drivers are away for more than 4/5 nights at a time, with a couple of days at home between. There are a few who are away for longer than that, but not many, those tend to be people who drive to the further reaches of Mainland Europe (or beyond) or are involved in very specialist fields.
Thanks Lucy. Good info always. One thing i will say is that being an owner driver is that it seems the same everywhere. HARD! Why cant you lease there?
Wow i hope your not serious? It is ok. I just think its hot with a bunch of renecks and black people and they both hate each other. So it gets old after a while. North Georgia is kind of nice. If you get out in the country.
