I’ve watched this a few times and obviously the truck driver is 100% at fault.
But… It does look like the bike was in his blind spot i.e passenger side pillar thing.
Edit for those that can’t see the video

Yup truckie 100% at fault.
Maybe he was paying too much attention to the mirrors, maybe reflections on the screen helped hide the bike, maybe he was glancing at his map or satnav as he made the turn, there could be 100 things that all added up to this event.
We’ve all had events of some sort where only by pure luck has nothing come of it, i dare anyone to say hand on heart its their skill alone that has got them through continually, you do need a certain amount of luck in this game, you can hedge luck your way by doing the job as well as you can in all respects but sometimes crap just happens.
Very glad the biker was off and unhurt.
I would go 70 /30 , 70% for the driver, its a tight turn and he should have been more aware that he would encroach onto the opposite side of the road but some mitigation re above on mirrors and reflections, he could have been watching for pedestrians, and 30% for the biker for failure to anticipate the trucks actions.
Obviously the little window in the passenger door did it’s job. Trucker at fault but definitely believe we all have had a close call maybe without realising.
I felt the biker could have moved to the right instead of saying “WO WO WO” into probably a full face helmet.
It seems the driver was making that turn no matter the bus parked on the opposite side and the vehicles overtaking the bus. He might have been wary of his swing with the rear-wheel steer. Possibly if he hadn’t had that, he would have had to wait to actually get round, so it has ended up not helping him. No sign of the biker sounding the horn to make his presence known.
He was looking in the n/s mirror concentrating on missing the lady with the pushchair. My feeling is that he maybe could have slowed down a little during the turn hence getting more oportunity to get a good look.
This scenario is a common hazard when we do the wide and long loads in london. The only way to approach it is to slow down and take your time/
Not wide enough on the approach and entry resulting in going far too wide on the exit of the turn.It could have been a cyclist.

Correct, but I agree about going right to avoid the lorry instead of just sitting there waiting for it to happen.

Am I the only one who can just see this on the o/p, or am I missing one big wind up here?0
Updated the post with a link
I’d did be asking why when it was obvious what the lorry was doing the bike didn’t shoot to the right , it’s not as though he’s in a big lumbering lorry , he’s on a nimble / fastish bike , he had enough time to jump clear so I’d of thought if he jumped as realised it was going to hit his bike , he could of just as easily sped off to right
Yes lorry drivers fault , but we’ve all had to swerve etc to avoid accidents over the years , don’t get why if he had time to get himself out of way of lorry he could of done the same while riding bike

The part where he’s saying the bike was hidden in a kind spot?
My.oponiom truck took corner to fast to tight obviously not looking around. The.corner for any obstacles.
Surely if anything like that happens you stop check everyone’s ok.
Only the old lady did check.on the biker.
Then take pictures inform the office take details.
He seemed.more concerned about moving his truck to free the bike so he could get on with his day
I don’t know, man. Maybe if biker boy hadn’t turned his head right to check out the chick with the green bag right as he was approaching the junction he could’ve seen the indicating lorry but hey we can’t all be professional drivers. Trucker at fault, legally. Practically, well…I kind of made my point. He was 100% into the n/s blindspot, if truck driver didn’t check at the precise short time window before bike got there he wouldn’t see him. Or he was too focused on his n/s rear to keep track of the woman with the baby trolley.

If you mean the date, we’d all ready sorted that out.
