How much sleep do you get?

apparently, only 3% of the uk population gets 8 hours per night. how much do you get?

7-8 hours a day …

i heard today that we should be getting exactly 7 hours per night. any less and we will suffer cardio-vascular problems, any more and we will suffer some other problems. a few weeks ago we needed 8 hours :unamused:

doesnt make much difference to me. a heart attack will take me out although not necessarily the first one :smiling_imp:

i get around 4/5 hours mainly due to the light nights. i dont sleep well when its daylight. if its light, its time for being awake doing things but im up around midnight or 1am most nights. if i get tired on the road i will pull in for a 15 minute nap as recommended by some driving safety expert group ( :unamused: ) and surprisingly, it does work

Typically about 7 hours sleep, but usually depends on what shifts i’m doing i let my body decide.

Somedays really long shift and tired, will sleep 10 hours other times haven’t done much wake up after 5 hours wide awake feeling fine.

Some times that half hour kip on the bunk will extend itself to a couple of hours

I nearly always manage over 8 hrs sleep, I think I just like my bed too much

when im on silly oclock starts[ 1/2 oclocks ] its 3 or 4 hrs per night. by fri im out on my feet .
just look round any r.d.c waiting room and theres plenty others out on there feet .

Not so much

I keep telling myself that I need 8 hours per night, however, it’s very rare I get more than 6 hours. If I do have the opportunity to have more (i.e. 8 hours plus) I’m usually wide awake after 7-7½hrs :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I can sleep more than 12 hours . . . . . . . . . but my hangovers last 2 days so I don’t bother!!

:open_mouth: Less than 4  Anymore and I feel like hell. Also feel more tired if I sleep longer BUT for those couple of hours boy do I sleep

less than 7 to 8 and I am not fit to drive at all.

I have averaged around 4 hours a night for the last 30 odd years. I can’t really sleep any more than that apart from rare occasions, and when I do sleep for longer I feel like crap when I wake up…

after 2 days, i would say that this poll is inconclusive. we are all different and so need different amounts of sleep to be alert enough to do our jobs

do you think all this so called research is to avoid redundancies? how many of these studies are not changed later on? in some cases, they go the exact opposite way and negate themselves completely. i understand that things come to light over time that are not picked up earlier so why not hold off on the advice until they know everything about the tests and results instead of releasing something that will be changed at a later date? lets face it, no one is really aware of these tests anyway so there is hardly and outcry for results and most of us dont give a monkeys anyway :unamused:

try and get 8 hours every night, and i hate getting up early, truck driving is probably not the ideal job really

I havent had the op for the Carpal Tunnel yet so i normally get about 6 hours but wake up every 2 hours at least.

I try to get 6-7 hours a night and that does me well.

I rarely sleep or dose in the day. If I do I feel like crap for hours after. I’ve only ever done it if I’ve not had any sleep at all the previous night.

I can manage on 5 if needs be, but I don’t feel properly alert if I get much less.

Try to get 6 hours in at least, but i’m a light sleeper and only need someone nearby with a fridge going and i’m done. Ticks me off when i’m somewhere like Rugby and you get these driver who park up and ditch the trailer to go and park futher down away from it!

I try to get at least 6.

I usually sleep like a baby.

Wake up every couple of hours wanting a breast in my mouth, then have to get up before I soil myself.

About 6-7 hours then I wake up, fully refreshed. I seem to need less sleep as I get older although sometimes when I am on my park bench, as opposed to in the truck, I will have a long sleep on Saturday night and doze well into Sunday mid-morning.

I don’t think scanny was thinking about an alcohol induced coma when he started this thread Harry. :stuck_out_tongue:
