Does seem to be a lot of stobart closures and redundancies just lately, i certainly wouldnt be gloating of being on a good crack when it could be your turn next.

Can anyone give details of rates of pay for drivers tramping please, as driving a little merc skip wagon for £12per hour sounds poor considering I’m a class 1 driverObviously a bit of trolling going on here
+1
One minute he is in another subject slagging stobarts off, and also bragging about his £12 an hour rate. Now he is in here starting another bloody topic up about stobarts, asking how much they get paid
Troll troll troll
Stobarts are on £15 per hr to start, and £3.50 an hour to finish…
but east european has just undercut it and is willing to start and finish for a flat £3 per hour, and will pay for parking, if he can have his wife and seven kids names on the front grille.
I would guess Stobarts money is about the going rate for the job as not everyone works there for the nice green uniform.
£12 per hour on a skip lorry ■■■■■■■■ until a couple of months ago I had worked in that game since I passed my test in 2000 and I’ve never heard a skip firm pay hourly it’s a day rate or basic plus bonus.

I did some skip hire work about 2 years ago after being made redundant. I live in Rhyl, North Wales. The pay was £7.50 an hour with x1.5 after 8 hours each day and saturdays. This was a good rate for the area with stacks of overtime all through the summer but come winter it was a flat 40 hours a week. I would still be there if there were more hours in the job and wasn’t covered in other peoples s h i t all the time!

who,s gloating, the 2 closures that have been anounced on here were muted months if not years ago,its not a suprise to me at all, even though it is sad for the lads who possibly may loose there jobs, hopefully the rumours of the last few years are true and there just moving to new depots and those lads get offered new employment there and its viable for them to commute to new premises.
if im next thats life ,ill ddeal with it,im not going to loose any sleep over something ive no contol over,as long as ive a hgv lisense ill find something eventually as i have in past
Nobbys job must be a cracker on the skips as i saw him at around 11ish this morning driving his ERF down some back lanes around the villages in buckinghamshire

But if they were muted nobody would be able to hear about them obviously.
There’s no stobart depots for a long way from here (Medway, Kent) so I have to assume (a) a national payrate won’t buy any drivers in these parts or (b) it’s all local seperate payrates where you might get away with £7.50 north of trafford park, but south of the M25 even nobbies pay £8.50 on the arse end of the A228 corridor!
I’m just after decent rates of pay in exchange for doing the job without running bent, and looking after the motor. Daily pay rates can’t be safe when all I see going through the roadworks is some IRL or Stobart motor steaming past me like I’m standing still!
I keep getting asked to work for single figures, but I ask for a lift in the minibus they use for immigrant indoor workers, which when politely refused, gives me grounds to retort the same. Needless to say, I don’t get a lot of work in a recession in a january, but I don’t care with most of my income coming from HMRC every week I don’t get anything
Use the system - don’t let it use you.
dont they have drivers based at kanuf sittingbourne anymore?

no
Winseer! There is a Depot at South Ockendon Essex! Just through the Dartford tolls! Not at Sittingbourne now for at least 2 years!
