Well reading what you have to say mate id not bother on monday, tell them to stuff it,as you said the promise of nights out hasnt happened no work, ring up and say when i need a holiday ill ring you for job.Best of luck
If there has been no animosity it is ALWAYS better to leave on good terms
I was told by a previous employer that if you have been in their employ for 6 months or less you are entitled to leave or be asked to leave without notice.
I live in Scotland, though, so we may have special rules!
Neil you have absolutely no rights whatsoever to be paid for the work you have done , all this excretia about what you worked you are entitled to be paid is codswallop (that one OK mrs mix?).
I have worked for some severe sphincters and ALL employers have the law on their side mate, he best thing you can do is walk away after all is there any point in doing a job if you don,t like it? A BIG NO.
Even if you give them a weeks notice they still dont have to pay you, people say OH YES YOU DO but you go and find a lawyer who will take on a case for your weeks wages, they will laugh in your face.
Yu only have rights after 1 years service with an employer, maybe more but certainly not any less.
Neil, does JD Green mean anything to you? If so I’m sorry to hear your luck hasn’t improved, and would be interested to know if they coughed up. If not, please just ignore this!!

…snip…i reported defects on both lorries but nil been done nothing dangerous but things to make everones life a bit easier.he will only put 1 lightbulb in the rest room and the heating is broke in there but he wont get it fixed so everyone has to freeze except for his office and the tpt office.i have heard 2 other drivers are on the verge of leaving as he dont want to spend any money although he has it.the cleaner cant even get a new mop head out of him even though he has them locked away.i would never ever consider going back to them for a second term.
No heater in the truck isn’t dangerous■■? How do you demist/defrost the screen? I don’t know if the factories act will be applicable but I’m certain that there is a minimum temperature that needs to be maintained, something like 60 F from memory, but all in all it does not seem like a place to choose for employment.

Sorry Jammy but your wrong mate, see the thread Industrial Tribunal she only worked for us for 7 months, granted it’s a special case but ■■■ descrimination does allow it to be less than 1 year, and according to rumours I’ve heard it’s the Equal Opportunities who are funding her legal costs despite not having the full story yet.

Thats how people get mis-informed Davey as you say rumours, i have been on way to the industrial tribunal court before and been told unless you have been with an employer a year you have no rights, dont forget we are talking about the haulage industry here whose employees have very little rights as it is never mind the entitlement to holidays ( which has just recently changed).
I got the sack about 5 years ago and went to try and fight it i was told there was no chance , i also last year tried to get some money out of Professionals Unlimited who are a Lincoln agency that refused to pay me for work done for them and was basically told by the C.A. that as an agency is not technically an employer i would stand VERY little chance in court getting my money out of them.
I have named the above company and have written statements that i would quite happily provide in a court of law to support my comment.
However on a lighter note i will be taking over transport soon and i will choose the agency i use, so suffice to say i will be holding one or two invoices back as long as i possibly can. :):)
I,m sure ■■■■■■ or racist discrimination will fall in to an entirely different bracket from what i have mentioned.

Wire i worked for some cowboy outfit recently delivering mortar , and everything is ripped out of the trucks when they buy them second hand there is a heater but the hot water supply is disconnected in order to keep the engine a sealed unit , there would have been nopoint anyway as the thermostats were all removed to keep the engines cooler, as far as i am aware theres no need in the M.O.T. for heat to be blown on the windscreen just air.
They even took off all the leaf springs and air suspension and replaced them with rubber blocks in order to stop the springs being broken on sites, and you were not allowed to have a radio i didnt find out why but you just werent , thats Lincolnshires farmers for you:(:(.
Some employers just wonder why they have a high staff turnover maybe we could help them.
jammymutt:
in order to stop the springs being broken on sites,
Don’t jammy I had one of them today

makes me feel better - I only needed a new tyre today
I would recommend giving notice. After all it is a matter of manners. We complain when we are treated badly, so set a good example, you never know it might be catching
Well, you’re a better man than me, Neil, cos if they had asked me to wash one of the Office workers cars, i would have told them to go forth and multiply!!!

i have been with a firm 2weeks but dont like it.should i give them a weeks notice or just ring them and tell them i wont be back.
since you have only been with them 2weeks then i would go in monday and out of manners i would tell them that you are leaving friday. at least that gives them aweek to find someone for the job.
