We tried an experiment today to see how low people were prepared to pay for a course. When deciding, is it about the pass rate? perhaps the price? perhaps the location?
We offered a Cat C+E course for £499 inc test fee. A few facts available as we linked the Google Ad to our site.
2012 - 41 C+E passes - 35 1st time and 6 2nd time
2013 - 51 C+E passes - 37 1st time 11 2nd time & 3 guys took more
2014 - 4 C+E passes - 4 passed 1st time
I was a bit amazed that not even 1 person responded including a text to every Cat C pass in that period.
The purpose of this post is to see if generally the trainers are off track with their prices, their products or perhaps another reason.
Dont get me wrong this was a 1 off trial. Like most trainers we are booked solid for weeks ahead, but today’s experiment made me think.
For me its down to pass rates and the trainers.id rather pay say 650 once for a good trainer than say 500 plus extra lessons and test fees for a not so good school.im not saying anything about yourselfs the prices are just examples
How many people looked at the offer page?
Maybe it was too cheap but if id have been looking i would certainly have phoned up to ask, when i booked mine it was done on reputation, the price quoted was all id pay and it was an area i didnt know.

Since the new laden rules were introduced last November I have done 16 tests and all 16 have passed first time.
This has consisted of 8 C tests and 8 CE tests. Each driver is given a assessment to see how many hours training they need. Two C drivers only had 4 hours training with test on the following day. The other were the standard 16 hours for the C test and 12 hours for the CE test.
I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a assessment drive prior to booking a course.
In my opinion training providers should not be giving prices without seeing the standard of the candidate.
I run my business on honesty and not how much money I can make out of each customer by quoting hours they don’t need.
