How much does a new Unit cost?

And,They are in Eastern Europe cheaper?
Remember back the old Liaz crowling everywhere around. But now the Easterners drive only the newest Outfit with nice Paintwork.
Even Volvos. :exclamation: Not just Renaults and other cheap Solutions.
Lorries must be cheaper there, better to run a Branch there and also having cheaper Tax and Injurence :bulb:

Absolutely spot on…yes the east europeans get special concessions when buying new vehicles, and special tax concessions. You could do what my boss did, and buy in the uk, run a load out there, and then re-register. An mot was 127 euros, and that included 1 years road tax ( not a lot of use if your running around other eu countries )…the insurance was a quarter of what it is in the uk…you will have to pay foreign road tax in most euro countries, including the uk, big fines if you dont ( my boss paid £300 fine because he forgot to renew it ) so although it looks cheaper, it can cost a great deal more.
You will also have to have a CPC international , or pay for someone else to, in eastern bloc you can run on somebody elses O licence and pay for that privelage.

I’m on my 4 th motor apparently in apx 6 months , turning into a joke , last one had just turned 100k , they must be cheap as they seem nigh on disposable

Do all drivers in your company go through that many trucks in 6 months?

Bout the Injurence you need a Green Card with you. O-license may be no Problem as here. Just partner up or overtake 90% of a Company, leaving the Partner as Office Staff.
Just see all mayor Companies of Europe running more and more on Eastern Number Plates. And all our Suppliers running Top Volvos,MAN,Scanias and no Axors os similar.

I wonder what the East European drivers are going to say when they get replaced with even cheaper drivers. As for registering and operating wagons from Eastern countries, we only need looking at a well know transporter company from the low countries, to see where that ends…

please be a bit more specific, as I would really like to know, what concessions I didn’t get when buying a new Scania in 2008.

They also dont have to spend a day in the workshop every 6 weeks.

I might be misinformed but I don’t think there is another country in europe that requires a 6-week inspection. it really isn’t necessary imho.

but coming back to the issue of new trucks, it is a financial suicide to have an old truck traversing countries, where for an example a dead clutch will cost you upwards of €5000. add the higher maut costs for older trucks, that also use more fuel. as for the bling, well it is hard to find drivers in eastern europe, so you’ll have to compete. cheaper to buy a few spots than pay a higher wage every month
