How much bloody room do they want

I miss chester. Hes usually good for an impartial viewpoint in matters like this…

Impatient trucker, not a credit to the profession as there was no need to pass in a pinch point.
I have to wonder if the trucker wasn’t doing it on purpose?

What actually did the driver do wrong? Did he clip the cyclist ? Did he move over towards cyclist. No.

He was driving the cyclist didn’t take evasive action just had a whine… if he was that scared he would of backed off … no just ran home uploaded it on YouTube to get paid by the sun.

Why choose to pass next to a restriction meaning you get close to the cyclist in the first place, as just up the road the cyclist has a whole bus lane to themselves. Why couldn’t the trucker have waited a few seconds■■?

Horrible dangerous road infrastructure and even worse driving. No matter how much you dislike another road user you don’t have the right to bully intimidate and threaten. Taking a lorry that close to any vulnerable road user is without doubt a cynical and highly risky thing to do, one error from the cyclist or driver and the cyclist is dead and that level of risk taking is just unacceptable.

The cyclist should not have been that close to the kerb, coming into that pinch point he should have blocked the possibility of the overtake by taking the middle of the lane then moving back left when there was space for the lorry to pass. But that stupid cycle lane compels him to ride in the gutter with all the dangers of debris or broken drain covers that could have dismounted him. The driver is the experienced professional road user and should of recognised the poor cycling and potential dangers, he should of held back, and the overtake was completely pointless anyway, within 30 seconds the cyclist was back in front.

It’s London driving the cyclist was over reacting … there was no threat to harm of him. But he felt the need to run to the sun newspaper. It happens 100 times a day in London.

Really■■? How long does he have to sit behind him then? In built up areas, if we didn’t pass bikes when we could we would never get anywhere. Just because the bike might catch back up again and the next lights or slower traffic doesn’t mean he shoukd have to sit behind him.

What’s your hurry? Carrying blood? Organ for transplant? Nuclear codes for the PM?

You opinion on the potential of threat and harm is different to mine. Yes as long as all goes well, then nothing occurs.
But if the lycra ninny did fall off and interact with the truck in anyway, questions will be asked, whether the truck caused that or not. I’d have just held back a little as the cyclist was making decent progress, used my eyes to look up the road and assessed there was no real need to overtake there and then.

Other police forces are available.

the worst thing is now we have lovely weather[for the moment]the lycra louts are all coming out, they have also started riding side by side taking up one side of the road, had two the other day side by side,as I approached the one on the outside did not even pull in,it’s only because the other side was clear I managed to get by otherwise I would have been crawling behind them at around 10 to 15 mph on a 50 mph road.

Until it is safe to pass, injuring someone because they were holding you up is never going to sound good in a court of law. And if they are wobbling along in the gutter you really should assume they are inexperienced and take evem more care when passing.

One thing that puzzles me with the cyclist in the OP is. He is clearly a very competent city cyclist, he has quite a few videos on his youtube channel and he is clearly confident and experienced on the bike. Even when the artic is doing its stupidly dangerous close pass the cyclist remains cool calm and collected. Someting doesnt ring true with me with this, why is an experienced cyclist riding in the gutter like a novice ? something to do with the cameras may be, or is that me being cynical? I’m sure he knows fine well that riding in that position is going to encourage the idiotic pass.

I thought that bit was a given! :grimacing:

Notice that despite the cyclist’s protests, he continues pedaling at the same speed, and makes no effort to slow down to move away from ‘danger’. Not the actions of somebody who fears for their safety.
