How many times did you try?

car first time 78,. class 1 first time 81…then a long long wait and class1A MB Canada 2nd time( )bad habits! 08…brake adjustment ticket 1st time 08. next one will be my LCV ticket (two 53ft trailers)…hopefully in the spring. My problem is I picked up too many bad habits over the years and go into default mode when not concentrating :stuck_out_tongue: :unamused: . jimmy

Car 1st time c & c+e 2nd time efad 1st time & bike 1st time

I passed all of mine second time round. Car, Bike, C and C+E.

Im just a wreck first time with nerves, second time round Im still nervous but it feels a bit less intense, that`s when I seem to fly though it (4 minors and a pass).

I told myself that Id just keep taking it what ever happened, I know its not cheap, but for me it only meant working an extra couple of Saturdays a month to pay it off the credit card, so I just cracked on.

I know its hard but dont give up, you will pass eventually

Passed my car test at the first go. Passed my motorbike first go. Was very confident therefore of passing class 2 first time.

Erm…3 fails then moved to a different training school and passed at the next attempt. Then passed class 1 at my first attempt with the same training school.

Weird how I have passed everything first time apart from class 2!! Although after my 2nd fail at class 2 I went mental at the driving examiner…who rather inevitably had me for my next test :frowning:

(Note to self; don’t bite the hand that feeds you).

Are they the ones that supply your coffee? :open_mouth:

No silly. McDonalds provide the drinks.

My previous employer just provided me the transport for it

Passed car test first time around the beginning of 83 but took 2 attempts to pass class 1 in 88, failed first time at a busy roundabout (Crow lane roundabout) where I was too hesitant at pulling away but nailed it a couple of weeks later.

Passed bike, car, class 2 and class 1 on first attempts but that means sod all. Still learning every day and still get the occasional reminder that if can go horribly wrong very quickly.

Monge tout

2nd re test tomorrow very nervous, failed last one clipped a kerb on way back to test centre on the last roundabout with only 3 minors well gutted

just out of curiosity how much have any of you been charged for re test use of vehicle etc £265 for me.

That’s about right fella.

3 hours @ £50 per hour + £115 test fee.

Cat B I passed first time at 17. Cat C 4 attempts due to in experience and being super nervous! Cat A module 1 second try (foot down doh!) cat A module 2 second attempt (can’t even remember the mistake on the first) cat b+e (boss to tight to pay for the c+e upgrade) 2nd attempt wrong lane on a roundabout doh! Cat c+e (today) passed first time, I put it down to no nerves and being methodical.

Good luck dude. Most of it is in your head, you can do it

Car = first time (couple of minors)
Class 2 = first time (couple of minors)
Class 1 = first time (couple of… you’re getting the idea…)

I think nerves played a big part in the minors but I was always amazed beyond amazed when I heard those “congratulations you’ve…” I always managed to convince myself that I’d failed at some point during each test, lord knows why

Always threatened to do my bike test (always had 125’s in my ‘youf’), I just never had the opportunity and the money at the same time, I’m 46 now so have to admit I probably never will now.

yay passed with 2 minors, better get my arse into gear and send out some cvs

Passed the car test on the fourth attempt. Long boring story, mostly nerves.
Motorbike first attempt.
Class C first time.
C&E third attempt - daft mistakes on both of the first two, just a couple of minors on the third. First thing I said to my trainer after the two fails (or practise tests as I now call them) was to book another one straight away, I was determined to get there.

Well… thanks guys for all the replies read them all… quite diverse and interesting… since that last fail i had another one… next week I’m going for 4th try. After reading the replies it feels shameful… last time the “excuse” was i was too slow… also too close to parked cars.

  1. Never hit or scratched anything parked not even in a car in my life. On narrow side roads where we ve been … and for the first time in my life an all… there wasn’t much space either side no matter who was driving…■■ Whatever
  2. The lesson before the fail my instructor kept telling me slow down- slow down watch the load on the vehicle- just like a train in the station… so i did… FAIL…?

Couldn’t believe… i feel confident… like driving… done 24 hrs now. Not a pro but should measure accordingly IMO.

Don’t know what to expect next…

Passed my car test on 2nd attempt, bus test 2nd attempt, Direct Access Bike test 1st attempt, Class 2 test failed 1st attempt because I believe I was marked unfairly by the tester (I even emailed the DVSA lodging an official complaint against the tester explaining that I’m NOT contesting the result just that they should review the tester in question) The DVSA emailed me back politely but effectively telling me to ‘do one’ of course.

I’ve been driving 7.5 Tonners in and around central London and England for over 17 years with NO RTA’s or points and on the day of my test failure the tester failed me for ‘lack of planning and use of mirrors’ apart from that I was “A confident driver” his ACTUAL words - going for my class 2 again soon but this time but NOT in West London, down in the South West so that I don’t get lumbered by the same ‘Rogue’ tester again.

I’ve been failed before, but I never SO insensed enough to compell me to complain to the DVSA about them, because I knew/felt that their assessment of my test was a fair one (failure or not.)

Been driving for a living now for nearly 20 years so I’ve got to keep at it until I DO pass, bit late in life now to change ‘career’ besides I’m one of those sadists that actually ENJOY driving/delivering/collecting freight!! (God help me)

If YOUR reading this and thinking of taking your test, I hope you don’t get saddled with the same tester as I did.

Took 3 attempts to pass C - first time hit cone on reversing but still went on drive as good practise, second time was an early 0800 test (not my best time) and commited 3 serious & 15 minors in a manual 4 over 4 Daf CF. Third time was in an auto CF and it was a breeze - 2 minors. 6 months later took my C+E in an auto CF and agian breezed through with 2 minors - ironically, same examiner as test 2 for my C. Even my instructor was amazed that I only got 2 minors in my C+E as this particular examiner is known for being very picky. Certainly, 6 months commercial experience driving rigids helped for my C+E rather than doing it back-to-back
