How many of you missed 'that' ferry?

was it the European Gateway went down of Felixstowe after hitting another vessel in fog ■■?

aye ,i always fell asleep in the cab on the car decks esp on cairnryan /stranraer --larne usually to tired to move ,same on english channel sailings.mmm one time caught someone unbolting my spotlights :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

I always stayed in the cab when on SeaFrance, I think it was probably safer there!

I think that is a wise decision. I can’t see the difference stuck in a lorry cab or locked in a lavatory with food poisoning :stuck_out_tongue:

A friend of mine was killed on there bringing ceiling tiles back from Germany :frowning: . He once told me that the drivers got perks for selling their cabins back to tourists which the ferry company encouraged, the truck drivers slept in their cabs, and he said they wouldn’t stand a chance if the ferry ever sank :open_mouth:  .

I knew a driver who reckoned he was on that one, (we were on the same job not the same company). All he kept going on about was that his Bosses Insurance wouldnt re-embirse him for all his personal gear and cash that was lost in the cab. It really did get up his nose

i knew 2 guys on the Gateway, one from Lowestoft the other worked for Foulgers in Norfolk, both got off ok,thou

Surely you’d be claiming that off the ferry company, probably with a ■■■■ load of compo?

Otherwise, it’d get up my nose too, not exactly a few quid is it…

That was his point about the value. But he didnt claim from the ferry company, just spent his time chuntering about it.

The chap I’m talking about was from Lowestoft, mention Insurance and ferries in the same breath, and cover your ears. We were both subbies to Frans Maas, could be the same bloke.

i was the [zb] captain of the herald of freenterprise when it wen,t down.

And I was the zb who should have shut the doors. :open_mouth:

I missed it because I was 3 months old and my mummy didn’t like me going off on my own at that age.
