Ah, that is probably where you are going wrong, we all still call them HGVs, I doubt my boss would have a clue what you were talking about if you told him you were looking for a job as an LGV driver

that why the TM was scratching his head them mate at my last interview 
in 2001 I got made redundant from a non driving job and as I had not driven for a few years I bought truck and driver mag to see the state of play in the industry in case I had to go back driving and there was an article in there which I am sure said there was a shortage of 70,000 hgv (lgv) drivers

That would be propaganda from agencies and driver training companies.
It is an ongoing thing.

Well I gotta say Harry I am hopefully still one of the former, For a while longer
I think I am no 8 or 9, but there was something about this that I read in Truck and Driver this month so a trip to the shops won’t go a miss it’s inn there somewhere and would be well worth a read. Good luck

Any one know how many hgv licence holders there are in uk ? I’m doing something for my blog and wanted to know where to look to find out. I’m sure I saw it somewhere any help apreciated
