Second that :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve noticed aswell that there seems alot more foreingners especially RO, and BG plated trucks, these are cheaper than PL and CZ :imp: :imp: :imp:

you should see them in spain unbelievable.
BG and RO everywhere even pulling spanish trailers cos they so cheap.
Primafrio now got fleet of portugese reg trucks but full of RO and BG to get around all sorts of european rules about cabotage and flagging out.
they destroying the industry and then the politicians wonder why any referendum about europe like ireland france and holland ends up with a no vote how long do we western europeans have to put up with being undercut by our eastern colleagues■■?

I took a little walk around the area on Dooley Terminal in Felixstowe docks last night, this is the area were tractoer units are allowed to park while waiting for trailers from the Norfolk Line Ferries. The ratio of foreign registered trucks to U.K reg trucks was over 2 to 1. To be fair I am including Dutch reg trucks with the foreign contingent but it must be remembered that a percentage of their drivers would be British.

Taking into account that more U.K trucks would be parking in their own depots in the area it still suggests a high proportion of foreign trucks doing U>K traction work and as many of these are parked up at weekends in the general area it suggests that both they and VOSA are ignoring cabotage rules unless you happen to be British and flagging out ■■? :imp: :imp: :imp: :imp:

if they’re in the docks to collect their trailers whats the problem.
they’ll tip/reload the trailer and swap it for another their company sends over.
not exactly running up and down the country doing domestic work are they.

I had an Estonia artic go past me on Monday night on the M1 Nrth, very smart looking MAN unit. First time i have seen one on the roads.

I think you’re right. If its their own stuff then they could probably do that every day of the week.I think as our economy goes ‘Global’, which basically means retailers buy everything from abroad where its cheaper!, the only trucks on the road will be supermarket ones

If it was their own work that may be fair enough but as the units concerned are pulling for a variety of trailer operators then obviously using your arguments this must be unfair. Several U.K operators have been brought to book by VOSA for flagging out their trucks to Holland and Belgium and told either operate U.K legal or leave the country on a regular basis, so as many of these foreign trucks are not leaving the country for several weeks at a time they are flouting U.K and European rules with impunity.

These Estonian hauliers have been here for about 4 years at least and are pulling Smeets trailers amongst others again without leaving the country for weeks on end.

yeah, like heisterkamp and half of the state of bulgaria are doing in sweden and many a port around europe, well welcome to the eu.

years ago i used to be based at zeeby, i worked mainly for one firm and they had trailers in loads of customers liveries from more than one country, i think you’ll find thats probably the case here.
unless they’ve changed the rules again non EU drivers need a permit to work here.
i worked for an italian firm that had a few rumo drivers and they only came as far as calais and we went over and swapped trailers there with them because they hadn’t got permits to enter the uk.
if they are EU drivers then cabotage doesn’t apply anymore, just as it didn’t for me doing internals in spain or italy.

Any one know what the country plate MK is. Thanks

if as you suggest its not illegal to run national trips in foreign truck as long as driver is european then how come romantiek been taken to court by VOSA in uk for cabotage because doing uk work with foreign trucks that don’t leave the country.
there are plenty of eastern europeans who base their trucks outside of their own country and never return home so thats just the same but they get away with it and are able to undercut western european hauliers by paying disgustingly low wages

5000 a day, i am staggerd, that is an awful lot of lost revenue I would love to know why the gernment does not want to cash in on this nice little earner

jus because they r foriegn does’nt mean the driver’s r foriegn ok 90% most probably r , but r firm runs irish reg trucks and we dont go to ireland only 4 mot thats all, an we r all english !

I thought there must be some reason to it the gov would not let that many run about free gratias. Why if they are all the time dont they use right hand drie trucks it would be safer for all of us who share the roads with them
