How many drops/collections a day do you do on average and do you get paid per job, per hour or a fixed daily rate. I was just wondering who has it easiest and who has to really graft for their money.
I usually do 2 or 3 a day fridge work, sometimes just 1 sometimes 6, but nearly always 2 hours plus away from depot. I get a basic wage plus extra per job.
It’s pretty easy stuff, just long hours and poor money.
I am on Linehaul work from Northampton to Paris … It’s boring but I only work 13 shifts a month and never work on a Monday(yet)
I am salary paid with a Bupa health plan for my family and myself plus a decent pension plan . We also receive 36 days holiday a year.
Even though my particular job is boring the benefits help .
4-8 drops or collections in a day (have done 13 ) just depends on distance and load size . Two- or more loads per day, all roofing & timber products …most drops unloaded with hiab.
Normally 3 or 4 except when I have 8 or 10 but usually 1 or 2 and sometimes none at all.
I get paid a daily rate and also paid by the hour, usually I get a performance bonus but not when I don’t. I get a meal allowance when I’ve already eaten and occasionally night out money when I’m at home.
I leave every Sat afternoon for the 0815 ferry to Ouistreham, Deliver one or two drops of fish on Sunday night ,the do up to ten pickups frozen and fresh food over two days in Brittany, ship back 2300 Tuesday night, and then deliver up to twelve drops Wednesday and Thursday, sometimes i am home on Thursday morning and that is me home until Sat afternoon.
The worst part of the job is UK RDC,s
I drive about 33 hours a week and work about 45 max,I am on salary for this.
