How long would it take you to do this delivery?

Its amazing what some gaffer expect for their £6.30 per hour nowadays, like Rob says, It would have rapidly been on its way back to base and then I’d be on the way to the pub to cool down a little and leave the boss to do the sweating over how the load was going to be delivered.

I certainly don’t deliver 6.7 tonnes as my van is a 3.5T MGW but everything I do is timed, timed on how long it’s taken previous drivers to do the same drop. Where this is flawed is in a couple of areas, sometimes you can’t park as close as previous ppl or on previous occasions the customer has helped or come down from the 12th floor etc…

I take as long as it takes, I don’t rush for anybody or anything. My safety is my only concern, I’m not going to go racing around just to finish a few minutes earlier. Around christmas time I refused to deliver to one customer’s kitchen as they wanted me to go down some steep steps covered in wet leaves. I said I’d go via the front door, they were’nt happy but they accepted it. Horses for Courses mate, don’t bother with what ppl on here say. Everybody online seems to be a hero. It took five hours, end of story

This is typical of bullying and drivers allowing it to happen. The fact is that it took as long as it did and if the boss isn’t happy then he can go and ■■■■ himself as far as I would be concerned.
Why are so many drivers scared of their bosses? Yes I know its a job but who would want to work in such an environment, not me for one.

Do not rise to the bullying and it will go away. Tell the boss to do it himself next time and see how he changes his tune.

Or how long he takes to post his P45…

He’s doing you a favour then in that case. :bulb:

Some drivers are so scared of losing their job that they will literally work for nothing and take an immense amount of crap in order to avoid upsetting the boss. This is why drivers are treated so badly, because they take it.

& that’s why as us on the frontline have to have the balls as a group to be stiff about the work we do for the wage, if everyone has the attitude that ya’ll loose the job cause ya don’t bend over far enough for the boss

the door is being opened further for taking the ■■■■

we all work hard & pay a lot of ££££ to get the licence & it takes a fair bit of professionalism to drive a wagon despite what most folk that have never even sat in one think

I was out on that satarday & sunday & it was lethal heat!!!

I agree with DAKOTA on here, plenty of people talk being a hero but when it comes down to it as most people with some common realise-most that talk it cant fckin walk it!!!

5 ton in 5 hours is a lot in decent weather-I used to deliver gravel & dig it out the 1 ton bags by hand & spread it as a paid labourer, most I could do is 1 ton an hour more than that your a ■■■■■■■■ to ya own health & well being for the longterm - plenty of builders commented at the speed I did it as i’m only a small chap

on the flipside to the above scenario, I was doing van/courier work & picking up/delivering alloy wheels, can I lift two alloy wheels & tyres strapped together-can I buggery - i’m not that physically strong so if a boss wants more weight done he can send a drives mate to help me otherwise he can go ■■■ himself

i’m not giving myself a hernia or torn cartlidge in the knees, slipped disks in my back for no ■■■■ - none of us are paid enough for that game!!!

ya do the job in the time it take for the conditions & what ya fit & capable off
