How long from posting D2/D4 to getting C+E?

How long did it take from posting the D2 and D4 forms to getting the C+E licence in your hand

I know a lot depends on DVLA and the availability of the training school you chose but this might be useful to those who are looking to do the whole B to C+E as quickly as reasonably possible

Please state if you also took Modules 2 and 4 of the initial DCPC.

When I did my training last year I sent off my D2/D4 mid June.

Provisional came back 2 weeks later.

Cat C training started end of July.

Cat CE training started and passed at the end of August.

Took about 3 months in total. I don’t think I could have done it any quicker

I had grandfather rights so no need for me to take initial DCPC

Medical on the 28th July, took around 9 days for it to come back.

Theory, Hazard and CPC Mod 2 all passed not long afterwards.

Class 2/C sat and passed end of August, kept hold of license due to mod 4 later.

CPC mod 4 taken September 5th, license sent same day, and back within 2 weeks.

C+E/Class 1 sat 9th October, examiner sent it off, back 2 weeks later.

So from sending the medical and license for my provisional, to getting my C+E back in my hand on my license was a turnaround of around 3 months, but that is passing everything first time barring the hazard test which was failed first time but sat again 4 days later and passed.

Thank you both

Looking as though just under 3 months is going to be the norm so far

I would predict that to rise with more people wanting training.

A big massive variable is how much money do people have? A car to CE could be in excess of £3000 so question to some could be a moot point if they need C then to get work to pay for CE ?

As also mentioned it depends on training availability so I’m not sure what the thread is looking for as individuals needs vary so much as do external factors
