You are having a laugh on us , with numerous depots all over the country , for the firm you work for , being without a fuel card is not a problem .
Because if needed fuel , just ask the planner at one of your depots and he or she will authorize a fleet fuel card for an out of base visiting driver .
This situation is the same as an employed driver that takes the fuel card home , when they have a day off or holiday , as they don’t want their own company drivers and agency drivers using the allocated truck , to mess up their fuel bonus pay .
If you filled up before setting off , you won’t need to use a card on a day run , on a longer run , use your depots .

If you were right why even issue diesel cards , when your off to wick after
Carlisle there’s no depots , same as a multi drop round Cornwall , Stoke , which I filled up above Inverness & Cornwall filled up avonmouth or aust
