I’m looking at taking a pretty beefy laptop with me on my new job along with my 3000W Purewave invertor. The laptop draws about 300W max from the wall at full load but I doubt I’ll be running at full tilt all the time. Anyone know how long the batteries will last before they die? I don’t want to have to get a jump because I was playing games all night. I did have a 600W microwave in my last truck but I was always idling when I used that.
A 3kw inverter will draw 125 amps working flat out but why do you need such a big one ■■

I got a good deal on it when I bought it.
Difficult question to answer ,as how old are the batteries ■■? Not being difficult just pointing out it is a difficult question to answer

It’ll be to start with an 11 plate DAF XF so I’m going to say they are original. I just want a ball park figure, I have seen drivers running TV’s all night that draw about 80w an hour.
Just buy a spare battery for the laptop (@£40-50 for an original probably) and charge the one not being used whilst running?

If youre using the laptop for hours on end then this is the safest bet especially if the truck still has its original batteries.
However, if its only occasional use of the laptop and its the only thing youre running off the inverter you should ok.
Edit-are you sure its 300watt? Only reason i ask is that the Toshiba Satellite laptop i use only draws 2.37 amps at 19volts ie 45 watts.
Just run the motor up for 15mins before you go to bed. That should put enough charge back in,

That’s definitely what it depends on.
I used to have to tick over for a few minutes when using microwave, (especially with tv for a couple of hours) as it was a bit dodgy sometimes when srarting, especially in winter.
Got new batteries fitted no need for tickover now, and I also leave my fridge on over weekend with no probs.
O/p just defect the batteries say it’s slow starting.
2 batts will be cheaper than a call out with time lost for co, and you’ll have no probs using your kit.

Its a large gaming laptop. The 300w is the size of the power brick but it will draw more juice than a regular laptop.
If your gaming the battery probs won’t be enough for some games, some games on my laptop at home crash when not plugged in

If it’s your own vehicle, have you thought about simply buying a spare Heavy duty battery and a solar charger then put in passenger footwell.
You can game as much as you want till it runs out and then let it charge all day when you’re working ?
No worries about truck batteries then
