How long before it happens in roadfreight

we had to get a quote today for a good customer for a container to the far east - line’s quote comes back with the usual haulage, handling, bills of lading costs etc but “oceanfreight - F.O.C”

my colleague queried this with the line a yep, due to the imbalance of traffic they are actually not charging a penny for the actual container on the ship half way around the world - watch this space, will the hordes of eastern european hauliers eventually get around to this? they are half way there already… :frowning:

  Already happening for a long time particularly for round trips between related companies JJ…

Could explain why that ship unloaded off Dorset, he wasn’t getting the rate for the job.

i wonder if this will take off on the short crossings too, dover calais etc.

its possible - we already have 50% discount on empty returning trucks on some of the scandinavian boats we use, just have to prove he shipped up there with the same line
