How long before first break?

Hi, i was at the port earlier and about 15-20 mins before the boat came in a few of the truck drivers (waiting for their trailer off the boat) went for a lap around the parked trucks and parked up again they were only driving for less than a min so they could have there 15 min break before they got their trailers and then drive for almost 4.5hours to have a 30min break and back on the road again. Anyone else heard of people doing this and if they got pulled by VOSA what would they say bout that although they wouldent of be doing anything illegal, i just havent seen anyone doing that before and thort it was pretty clever thing to do

VOSA would say nothing, it’s perfectly legal.

It’s one of the reasons that they changed the breaks to 15 minutes then 30 as previously you could drive 1 minute, break 30 minutes, drive 4 hours 29 minutes, break 15 minutes, drive 4.5 hours. That meant legally 8 hours 59 minutes with just a 15 minute break. Now you would do 8 hours 59 minutes with 30 minutes break, which of course is so much safer. :stuck_out_tongue:

A national express favourite… Drive to the fuel pump in the yard, fuel and grab notes etc, have 30 mins break, then down to town, get your passengers, down to the smoke, 15 minutes on bay whilst dropping off and picking up passengers, back to town all with a 15 minute break.

Scary ■■■■ now to think about it, but was a good job in its day

Presumably that was before the rules on split breaks changed to make you have the 15 minutes first

Is it possible to fill a wide necked bottle with Truckers Tizer whilst driving a loaded bus or coach
without being seen?

I’ve no idea, always had a good bladder, can literally go all day with just a ■■■■ in the morning, no idea why, probably seriously dehydrated or something
