I don’t have a clue, as I’ve been driving a sofa (retired) for the past 12 month+

We’ve lost 42 % of company drivers since the new lot took over ( there figure ) so we’re now flooded by agency & from what they say they can work as many days / hours etc as they like .

Nb if they ■■■■ the pay up again this month like last 2 then we will be 100% agency

Apparently our agency are being guaranteed work for 6 weeks at a time , lad said he’s work upto mid Oct , then not sure what happens then , maybe renew for another 6 weeks , depends what happens with regular drivers I’d guess , lot of very unhappy drivers

Agency have now been told they can’t guarantee them work ( some already have had days stood down )

5/6 agency sent home today as no work , paid there 10 hrs :roll_eyes::enraged_face:, I’d of loved a day at home paid !!

and which haulier is that? so we can assess the extent to which that valuable information can be extrapolated to the rest of the field..

ADR network I believe , according to office loads of shifts cancelled today

I request for this thread to be removed from the face of the Earth

Need company’s to pay proper rates wih proper terms and conditions, ie holidays (25 days minimum) full paid sick pay , and treated with respect. That way there would be not such a demand for agencies drivers , and the job might appeal to the younger generation.

I spoke to agency this morning and he said he’s down 2 shifts this week ( not happy ) so put his name down to work weekend .

must admit I’ve had plenty of hours / work ( full time ) but others are saying it’s very quiet ,

Zac is back

dozy is back

Just in tesco hinkley ( don’t ask ) , just came over intercom, if anybody would like tomorrow off inform us , so tesco can’t be that busy .

Apparently 16 sent home today , no work

is it accurate to say then that this Christmas’ season stockpiling run-up is being felt slow at this very point (17:59pm 11/17/2025)?

I’m guessing yes , if you’ve got tesco ( or tesco at that depot ) saying do you want the day off a month or so before Xmas you’d guess they’ve not sold what they thought they would

Our agency is very strange though , I’m baffled why you’d bring in 16 agency you don’t need , can’t they see the work levels the day before , then you’d say if your paying them why not get them to do my extra run from yard , get something out of them for there 9/10 hrs pay & I could of just done 9/10 hrs .

They can plan ahead for the anticipated demand, but they can’t predict sudden cancellations caused by last minute changes, inc suppliers not delivering the goods, vehicle breakdowns, and lower than anticipated demand from stores. Excess stock maybe held in other depots taking up space. So rather than trunking it across country they deploy vehicles from that location to deliver stock that otherwise would be delivered by your location

So I’m told tha agency are not being cancelled , there going down the route of standing down the company drivers , one driver ( agency ) said it’s because there frightened of loosing them , but that doesn’t make any sense to me as I was talking to one agency driver who said he loved being cancelled for the shift as agency paid him & then he rang another agency , went elsewhere and got 2 days pay for the day ,

Im Not up on how agency works but I thought you got paid if you attended work and got sent home , I thought if your shift was cancelled the day before you didn’t get paid , but agency lad said you do .
