About 10 days ago I arrived to my workplace to find the car sitting in the middle of the entrance to the yard. The bareer then is wide enough for two sprinters to pass, yet the gentlemen in question decided that he will sit right in the middle of it. He was setting passenger of, so I waited, but after that he was still sitting there. The postman behind me just gave up and parked the car on the right and went on foot, but I needed to get into the car park, so I sounded the horn. He started to getting to drive (I saw him starting engine etc.) so I put my first gear and pulled of, maybe drove 20 cm forward (there was a big gap between me and him).
But then he put his reverse gear and drove straight into me, despite that I was sounding horn again.
I got out of the car and examined the damage -there was no visible damage to my car, but his bumper was cracked and he lost his fog light. I started to speak about the insurance, but he began shouting at me aggresively: that it’s my fault because I stopped behind him, that I am blind because I haven’t seen his reversing lights and so on, and that it’s him who is a victim here, as his car is damaged… I tried to point out that there might be some invisible damage in my car under the bumper and therefore I would like to have his insurance details just in case, but he became even more aggresive. In this moment his son - the passenger who he set of just a moment before - camee back and joined his father in shouting at me, saying that I am some overreacting idiot, and that I am telling ■■■■■■■■ about that any damage that is invisible without taking the bumper off is possible, and that I am going to rip them on cash, and that only idiot will contact insurance for the thing like that. He took his mobile out and started to make pictures. So I just ignored the idiots, wrote down registration number and drove around them over the pavement and get to my work, when we had some training.
It turned out that the young guy was some new driver in our place.
Just to be sure, I contacted my insruer, and I told them that it seems to me that there is no damage to my car, but I wanted to report that such situation had place, just in case, without making any claim. They took my report in.
Week later, I got the letter from this guys insurance to confirm that I was involved in the incident. Soon my insurance called me to say that they were informed that I drove in the guys arse, but having my report from before they refused to accept claim…
Lesson: It’s good to inform insurance even about such small things like this.
And second thought: how stupid this guy has to be to make enemies to his son in his company at first day of work? Few drivers from my company saw what happened and several more heard the shouting of the two guys…
