How easy can it be to do continental work

just decided to plunge into the deep end and look for continental work the problem is that without driving experience in europe what company would take on a driver who has yrs of experience in the uk/ireland any advice appreciated

If you have been running around Ireland then you should be familiar with the main players over there, maybe they would be your best point of call to start with.Go knocking on doors with enough gear for a few weeks away and your passport, you never know, you may get lucky!!

You could well find yourself competeing for employment with drivers from all over Eastern Europe who will work for wages that may well surprise you. Good luck.

EDIT…there you go…viewtopic.php?f=22&t=67980

Lifted from the Vacancy forum further down the Index page.

Can you speak Bulgarian,Polish,Estonian,Lithuanian,Romanian,Senegese,Portguese,(Brazilian residents.Ref JFI International.),then you have a chance to live out of your trailer box, shop at Aldi and Lidl, and you will need a washing line A la Betz style to dry your laundry, you will be home by next christmas.Pair of flip flops would be required by law.

Go on Toby, tell him like it is!!!

Over the last few months, i have spoken to a couple ov nolans drivers, yes that would be 2 ov the 5 they have, apprantley according to them its ok, half decent wage, (by sounds of it) half decent kit, can be long hours, but u dnt mind that doin europe, they say that they are looking to recruit more uk drivers, because of some problems with current staff! :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
And they seem to get around, i seen 1 at Torremolinos services on the costa del sol, and u dnt c many uk trucks there at all, and the other in munchen.
Have a look at there web-site, see what you reckon, be warned people will say alot of bad things about them, but if you really wanna have a go at europe then mayb worth a call.

I hope Nolans drivers take 45 weekly rest periods, one Irish firm, told me over the phone,if i minded that i take only a 24 hour off all the time, and run over time for ferries if needs be.

With the digitacho it’s now very difficult to work long hours and skip your breaks, and if you get caught, especially in France or Spain, then you are going to part with an awful lot of money.

Unless of course the firm supplies you with a large magnet

In France you will see a Gendarme van,in a gateway,at the side of the motorway, and further down the road,a Suburu Gendarmarie that may be waiting at the next service area,or aire de repos,(rest area.),or the motorcycle unit or brigade, they dont take any prisoners and wont suffer fools.

Watch out down the big hill after the parking area southbound at Avranches, they sit under the bridge with binocs and they have a Subaru.
klunk

Ran on Sunday with onions, saw two gendarme bikes on top of a motorway bridge, within two minutes they stopped me,they must have had access to a side gate to get me so fast, did not check the CMR as the smell and bulge in the side curtain was obvious,on i went.
