So you are/were an alcoholic, someone dobbed you in and now you want benefits to pay your living expenses? Like I said…get a job that doesn’t Involve driving.
To my mind, it shouldn’t matter if the OP drinks alcohol seven evenings a week provided he is not impaired when he is driving the next day.

I don’t drink at all but agree with this view.
However dependence implies rather more than a couple of pints with your tea or watching the tv before bed

Lost licences due to my good friend Carl Greenway, now ex-friend
■■■■■■■■. You lost yourself your licences. If anything your friend saved you from killing yourself and/or others. Maybe one day when you’re not such a knob you’ll realise that.
I think a few people on here need to be crashed into by a drunk driver, like I have. Maybe then you’ll realise what a menace these people are on our roads.

Unless you’re drinking enough every evening to still be over the limit in the morning…
Get help for your alcohol problem, it is not an easy thing to do but please take the first step - it is an illness like any other and really needs to be viewed as such. Your bills may well be irrelevant if you don’t!

It’s not just the dwp’s eyes that think he is entitled to nowt
Don’t think my point was made properly. I am the captain of my ship,I’m responsible for things that happen to me,my problem is my problem. What I’m trying to say is having put the effort in and grafted, paid tac and NI, the one time I apply for state help I get awarded zero. I will get another job just saying the system is bent
Could the O/P/ get pregnant? That seems to work for lots of undeserving people. Has any one on here tried to get a job stacking shelves? I tried years ago and its all agency etc. etc. An alcohol dependent person should not be a vocational driver, but he has to live some how.

Yeah you’ve paid in. But I could say I don’t want my taxes supporting you because you brought your job loss on yourself.
Would sooner be helping to support redundant p&h drivers for example that had no choice in the matter of being unemployed.
Minger, the system is there as a back up…for people who havnt brought problems onto themselves…now the way i see it is…you have an alcohol problem, you have lost your job, and your licences because of the dependency of alcohol…they are saying that its your fault, and wont offer any help, thats the same as packing in your job yourself, and still theres no help available. So basically…your up the creek without a paddle, so all you can do, is overcome the obstacles…find a job that doesnt involve driving…warehouse work etc, but lets not forget …you now have a stigma attached…and they will be thinking…Can we trust him …see what i`m saying…there are a few soothsayers around…ignore them, and carry on regardless in finding your own way forward…there is a way…you just gotta find it, and i wish you every success…merry xmas.
