How does he stand

I’ve a good mate who works for a company who basically sub- contract to anybody , one company they sent him to would just use / abuse him as he wasn’t there employee ( ended up doing things he shouldn’t of ) , so work died off and he’s not been there for 6 months and alls been ok , but now they want him to go back and he’s said no because of a,b&c , there saying it will only be for a week , doing a certain job , but he’s not comfortable and has said no I don’t want to id rather do any work but that work , they’ve said they’ve no alternative work and it will only be for a week
How’s he stand , ta

On his two feet.

Presumably he hasn’t been sat on his arse for the past 6 months, so utilise the word no (it’s too rarely used anyway) and carry on doing whatever else he’s got.

It’s hard to stand without a spine! That’s a roundabout way of saying that “your mate” should just say no to anything you, sorry he’s not comfortable doing. You don’t go to work to risk your licence, your life, or your mental wellbeing. Just say no, as The Grange Hill kids famously sang.

Ease of dozy. Just because your ‘Friday gone ■■■■ up’ wind ups don’t work anymore, doesn’t mean that you have to come up with a new trolling attempt every few hours…

You could always tell “your mate” about the other job that is available again.

.

It catches me out everytime. EVERY time.

I click on the thread, read the first post, I get that familiar feeling of wanting to roll my eyes and tut, get halfway down the page before somebody mentions Dozy, so I scroll back up to see who the OP is, and realise it’s Dozy. It gets me EVERY time. He is a genius troll.

Note to self: always check who actually starts a thread, and then decide whether to proceed or not.

■■■■ it up buttercup and get on with it. If it mean getting dirty, sweaty, or involves physical effort (handball) tough, you/he may not want to do it but it’ll still be within the remit of the job. But if its not safe or legal then don’t do it.

My old gaffer subbed me out for a week some years back. I felt as though I was being abused so played him at his own game. I was parked up intending to have 11hrs off then the phone rang :imp: Job change, will I start at 03:00 :open_mouth: for an urgent load :unamused: This was 21:00 and I’d been parked up since 19:00. I said sorry, I work days not nights and seeing as you have disturbed my daily rest I’ll not be starting till 08:00

I got a right rollocking off my gaffer and threatened with the sack etc. I did feel a bit guilty but still started at 08:00 :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not sure that’s something you should really admit to online.

No, he really isn’t and we could all probably do without you falsely elevating his status, you’re going to give the [zb]ing idiot the idea that he is clever, witty, popular and serving a functional purpose on this forum, which he isn’t, far from it.

I only look at dozys post to see how long it takes you to realise what you’ve done

Some newer drivers or posters might take his posts as reality, and if they are having the ■■■■ taken out of them as sometimes happens with new drivers thankful to have landed their first gigs they might get the impression that the world of Dozy the Trucker is typical (when in truth it’s surreal bordering on lunacy) and he after years on the job is still floundering around from second rate job to third rate, that this is how lorrying is for many.
There is nothing normal about these threads, if there is even a shred of reality in them then as Conor i think it was said in another thread, the poster involved is in the wrong industry, we’ve all made mistakes (usually when desperate for a job) and landed jobs that were never going to work out, but years on end repeatig the same mistakes is not how lorrying is for the vast majority of us.

I for better or worse try and answer the surreal as sensibly as possible, maybe thats wrong but i’d hate to think any new or potential driver reading Dozy’s mayhem got the impression that this is normal lorry life.
