I’ve never seen a company deliver dumpy bags of gravel to a house from a curtainsider, I guess they’re too cheap to splash out on a hiab vehicle and hiab qualified drivers, which would be the proper tool for this kind of work.
What’s wrong with kerbside delivery? I was just trying to make the customer’s life easier, and my life easier avoiding blocking a main road. I’ll live and learn.

I deliver landscaping/ building materials to a lot of houses with the aid of a block grab. Seen many bulk bags, crates of slabs that the customer has ordered from other companies, that have been dropped off by one of the palletways firms

It’s a cheap and exploitative option for the haulier; strictly speaking, drivers shouldn’t be expected to do it.
These hand-powered pumps are for light loads (<400kg), dumpy bags weighing anything between 800-1000kg should be moved by some form of powered equipment. Anyone who has had a serious manual handling injury at work (and potentially been off work with nothing more than SSP to live on!) will attest to that.
I know some guys see it as a challenge of manliness (like continuing to drive in a high-sided vehicle when it’s stormy as hell like last week) but all the machismo in the world will be little comfort if this happens to you (and there are even worse manual handling injuries than this!)

The first one is an electric pump truck, a child could operate it.
