how do we get hours down wages up?

simple, go get a job that isn’t driving a truck.

the trouble is that driving a truck is offering the best package available, to people that drive trucks, other wise they wouldn’t be driving trucks

Not in my case mate, I certainly don’t drive trucks BECAUSE of the best avaiable package, I drive them because I know nowt else (after having driven them long enough to remember when a much better financial incentive was on offer), and you’re wrong it aint “simple” to find something else in said case, what use is being able to say… reverse an artic first time in a near hand impossible space, to qualify for an office job for example, so I’m stuck with it, so speak for yourself.

you’ve took it the wrong way fella,

get a job that isn’t driving a truck, doesn’t mean to get less hours and more money for yourself, it means there’s one less person driving trucks altering the supply : demand of truck drivers in favour of the drivers. if enough people leave…then the rates might go up enough to temp me back behind the wheel

if you could get a better package elsewhere then you’d go elsewhere, this is not an insult, just what most people would do, common sense surely? you even say yourself that you’re stuck with it, so it’s the best package available for you then? that’s not saying it’s the best package you’re capable of. a trucker could be a barrister, but if they couldn’t get work as a barrister then driving a truck might be the best package available to them at that given time.

i never said it was simple to find something else

i generally only ever speak for myself, as i generally hate spokesmen

simple.
do what i do.
tell them what you want.

It won’t happen for as long as drivers are stupid enough to have the opinion that it is ACCEPTABLE and REASONABLE to work 15hr spread overs and max weekly hours, (which is bad enough in itself) for a LIVING wage (if lucky enough) not a GOOD wage… as they regularly do on here :unamused:

This ^^^^^

And if the agency driver also refused to work how would the job get done? If ALL drivers stuck to a policy of refusing to work for less than £10/hour then it would be paid…

…But they won’t 'cos most drivers have no balls.(cue all the BS excuses why drivers work for peanuts). :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I’ve demonstrated having the balls by holding out for £10ph, and picking and choosing the shifts I do.
Trouble is, too many around here seem to line up wanting a free kick and those very same balls!
