How do I get the ad lie reset on an iveco

Hi one of my men has put water instead of ad lie in the adblue tank now it has stopped injecting adblue and gone into limP mode any idea pls

What has happened is because he diluted the ad blue ,it isn’t now strong enough to clean up the nox ,hence the derate … Empty the tank and refill with ad blue .then go for a long run to get the system operating ,then when the nox sensor after the cat recognises the nox is cleaned hopefully your light should go out …as the ecu should now see the system is operating…Best way to get it to operate is to take it uphill as ad blue systems only operate when the engine is under load and generating max nox

Thank you will try that On monday

A good mate of mine has been running “ad water” (with the odd 20l of ad-blue) in his 07 560 Stralis for ages without any problems, it’s more likely that your driver has added the water from a jug with either oil or dirt in the bottom & the system has sensed a fault in the flow. Unless you’ve got a much newer Iveco that runs a different system to the 07.

Good luck anyway.

Ross.

yeah this one is a ten plate euro 5 i think they have on board diagnosis and when it senses the exhaust gas isnt correct it shuts it down to limp mode, which then doesnt need ad blue, so doesnt purge the system either so have to strip it all out clean it out refill and start again, dont know if i have to go iveco to have the sytem reset

The law as far as i know it ref emissions is you can’t clear a NOX fault ie extinguish the light .The vehicle has to run and go through it’s own diagnostics to extinguish the light for a NOX fault …Though some people get by this issue by just reprogramming the ecu …The lad who dilutes his adblue with water won’t have NOX sensors ,just like the early DAF’s didn’t …After all if the system could just run on water then everyone would just use water

I would just try a hard-battery reset after you’ve drained and refilled before going to the dealer. I reckon there’s a good chance that will clear it without a dealer plug-in and certainly worth a try in any case.

call john dulson at stoke on trent he can do away with your ad blue altogether for about £600

 Take that Europe!

If you can’t sell it, make sure the insurance is good and Spanky will “disappear” it for you :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

Had heaps of problems with the 11 plate Stralis I drive, ecu reset by Iveco was a waste of time, 10 minutes down the road and it was in limp mode again, after a dozen workshop visits it was allegedly a pump fault and they then “discovered” they had a batch of faulty replacement pumps, funny how the sensor got changed on the last visit and then the problems stopped.

The only decent fitter I spoke to said that the ecu resets if you switch off and leave the doors shut for 20 minutes anyway, saves all that faffing waiting for Italy to contact someone 20 miles away in the middle of the night (and trying to spell the name of a Highland Village to some Italian bird at 3am too).

If there is muck in the system get one of the tree huggers to ■■■■ it through, it’s about all they are good for, failing that go for military spec model as a replacement, just smack the button on the dash to revert to full power and make 'em sniff a bit more nox.
