How do I get an Avtar thing for my profile?

Excuse my ignorance but fairly new to all this. I have been trying to get an avtar on my profile but it keeps saying that they are too big…

Has anyone got any links etc that I can go to for avtars and how do I set one on my profile■■?

you could always re-size a pic of whatever you want using
resize2mail.com/
then upload it to the forum

The uploading thing doesn’t seem to work these days, the Link to off-site Avatar option does though.
