I’m Andy — I’ve been in and around transport management for a while, working with operators and external TMs. Over the past couple of years, I’ve been trying to make PMI schedules, driver records, and maintenance tracking a bit more manageable.
Just curious how others are handling it at the moment. Are most still using paper logs and spreadsheets, or have you switched to something digital?
Always good to hear what’s working well (or not!) out in the real world.
I work for small company in Trafford park. We’re stuck in dark ages all pen and paper no pads PDAs just pen paper delivery notes etc.
And like it that way.id hate to use PDA trackers etc that know where you are what time you do your delivery etc
Is this what your on about , all the work , lorry trailers / sat nav on this device , if you are everything is good other than sat nav ( co pilot I believe ) which is crap
If you go to perplexity Ai and tell it the problem your having and how best to move to an automated system etc you can tailor absolutely everything. Get an AI savvy employee. This is a real life example of how good it is.
I coach athletes in my spare time writing programs for a top level athlete took me about 8 hours. Nowadays I use Ai to do it. I put in the athletes metrics such as blood count lactate threshold tests resting heart rate etc and it can automate it in about 10 seconds. It takes me about 10 minutes to put the current data in. If I have to use adaptation I just refer to the previous program and add the adaptations and it automated a new program. AI is to be used as an assistant only and always check the results.
There’s lots of other AI advice out there from Deepseek and Chatgpt for example, but Claude etc are just as good. Play about with it first before you know it, you’ll have programmed yourself out of a job.
